Ancient coins via Xbox account

I got a code for a bunch of coins which I redeemed via the Microsoft/Xbox accounts page. My Xbox account is linked to steam and I'm using it to play this game but I do not have my coins in game. Has this happened to anyone else? I've heard it can take 72 hours to sync but its been like a month or two!
