Can't change account on shared PC
We are a family of five, each with our own Steam and Xbox accounts, set up and linked correctly as follows: Steam Account A → Xbox Account A, Steam Account B → Xbox Account B, and so on. However, we're experiencing an issue with Sea of Thieves: we're unable to switch accounts at all on shared PCs.

Whenever I log into a different Steam account to play, the game prompts me to link my Steam account to an Xbox account. However, instead of recognizing my own Xbox account, it defaults to the Xbox account of the last person who played Sea of Thieves on that PC and does not allow me to pick another account.

We've tried everything to resolve this: logging out of the Xbox Game Bar, Xbox app, and even Windows (then logging back in with the account we wanted to link), but nothing works. We've also attempted launching the game on another PC first with matching Xbox and Steam accounts, hoping it would correctly recognize the linked accounts, but that didn’t help either for the shared PC.

At first, I suspected the issue might stem from uninstalling the Microsoft Store version of the game and replacing it with the Steam version on all our PCs recently. However, that seems unlikely since we’re experiencing the same issue on our Steam Deck, which never had the Microsoft Store version installed.

Has anyone had the same issue? Is there a solution to it? Any help would be appreciated!

Is there no one who could help me with this? This might just be the most frustrating issue I've ever encountered with a Microsoft game.
