Can I join randoms?

Example like Left 4 dead you can join any lobby that is available

That is what "Open Crew" is.

Usually when you decide to start the session by playing Open Crew when starting up the game it lets ya join someone else's session. If you were to start your ship as closed but later in your settings open it up for Open Crew then randoms can join you.

Beware that a lot of people sabotage for others that way (throwing your loot away, eats all your food, dumps your supplies). There are those that don't use microphones at all or even speak the same language.

But there will sometimes also be the type of players that genuinely wants to play with others like you do. You just gotta find the best way for you to find others to sail with. A good recommendation is to test out either the Sea of Thieves official discord or some other type of community group and befriend people that way.

You're aware that the same issues happened with randoms in Left 4 Dead 2, right?
Same thing with all games.
Keep hopping lobbies till you find one that works.

Even when recruiting with discord, the same issues can arise. But you can check their profiles and talk to them before inviting them to your team.

yes, but don't.

there's an option for open crew, but the good crew mates compared to the bad ones are about 1 good for every 1000 bad, and if you get stuck with a bad one joining then there isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell you can do to get rid of them since there's no kick function.

It gets boring when most of them I join are completely silent. Non have mic and only 2 players I found only reply using chats. Most of the time is just drifting around with no objective. I'm going back to Helldivers

in pretty much any team or co-op game. It's really baffling. You don't even have to spend that much to get a working mic
