Skeleton Ship Brig Keeps Sinking Us
So were a 4 player crew and were trying to do a treasure vault and we are playing on Safer Seas. Every single time this one particular skeleton brig keeps showing up with cursed cannonballs that disable cannons and it fires them every other shot with crazy accuracy. We've been trying to complete this stupid treasure vault but outside our first one when it was a nonissue this skeleton ship shows up and ruins our day sinking us over and over and over and we cant outrun it. It literally goes faster than any ship we can use. We aren't the most experienced crew either as we do have former experienced players but they haven't played the game in years and have basically forgotten how to play...

Any idea wtf is going on with this skeleton ship...? It showed up as a brig even on smaller crews/ships too

There is no skeleton brig, that's a galleon. It's a random encounter, you either get a meg or a skelly ship on you.
You hear a distinctive sound when the skelly is about to spawn, that should be enough time to get your crew ready.
They usually sink in about 40 seconds or less when your crew can fight.

There are skeleton ships roaming the seas - these are passive unless attacked.
There are skeleton ships that emerge / rise from the waters to fight player ships - these are aggressive and must be attacked until sunk or slowed down.

Emergent skeleton ship type:
  • If you're sailing on a galleon, you will get a skeleton galleon.
  • If you're sailing on a sloop, you will get a skeleton sloop.
  • If you're sailing on a brigantine, it's random - you might get either a skeleton sloop or skeleton galleon (if i recall correctly).

To fight it, it might help you to check out guides on youtube, or check out this old thread titled: "WHY ARE SKELLY SHIPS UNRELENTING"

Recommendation: have 1 person board the skeleton ships to distract and attack the skeletons on the cannons. Better they focus on a player than shooting your ship, at least enough for you to put a few holes in them.
After playing for a bit longer and after reading this... Turns out we were just getting extremely unlucky and kept getting galleons that disabled cannons, Thanks for the help! ♥

Shoot some fire bombs at the skelly's cannon line so they won't have shooters for a long time.
