Can't get the mic to work in game

Windows 11, Steam version (obviously). Checked and changed app privacy settings, Steam voice settings, sound/mixer settings, xbox game bar voice settings, and still can't get my mic to be heard by others in game.

It does show the icon in the upper right corner without a line through it, and I can hear other people in game, but my mic doesn't come through.

Any advice?

i had the same problem. the fix for me was to set the mic as standard communication device in the windows sound control panel. since i am still running w10 (and refuse to use w11 whatsoever) i can't tell you, where those settings exactly are for you and if it will actually work

In the windows game bar, check what mic is assigned to sot
