How to repair a sot ship mast

It says to use rope to use the pole. I bought a rope but how do I use it?

It's the rope that you use to turn the sails. Just use it and pull on it, the mast will raise.

At 8:42, watch me raise the mast - I go to the rigging, press F and then hold W.
At 9:10, watch my crewmate - he went to the mast and used wood to repair.

how did you buy a rope? That's not a thing that I know of. You just raise the mast the same way you raise the sails

Do people just not play the maiden voyage or do people not read the tutorial lol. Raising a mast if a part of the tutorial.
