Is this game worth playing in 2024?

Like, Is the multiplayer scene dead? The concept of this game looks pretty fun to me. I never played it and I was wondering what you guys think.

The game is at a really bad stage right now, tons of bugs, tons of cheaters (they can litteraly teleport on your ship) and the devs seem like they don't listen to their community.

I wouldn't recommande unless you already have friends to play with and you can get the game for cheap.

No, game is ruined by cheaters and Rare is incapable of fixing it or they just don't care.
Alot of content creators are boycoting the game because of it atm.

It's a fun game, especially if you got friends but be realistic
...we are here cause we don't have friends
But the biggest problem is, there are players out there who are just too good
And there are virgin sweatlords who sink your ship only by their sweat
So a new player has absolutely no chance in any fight as new players are rare, old players are plenty, and they will just wreck you without batting an eye, taking the fun out of the game
I myself also experienced cheaters in the first week of playing this, so yes, that's also a thing lol

Most of the sweat lord left the game or play on pvp mode, every ship I encounter on High Seas are relatively new

The most ships on the seas are pretty new player. I never saw a cheater in this game. Give it a go it is not that expensive.

Game forces PVP down your throat even if you dont want to. not shocked that the cheaters took advantage of this and said "hey wait we can just grief people and teleport on their ships"
game needs a "allow PvP" option tab but thats a Really sensitive topic with the Community due to the sweaty tryhards saying it would "ruin the game". (they dont know we have a Gamemode dedicated to PvP)

if you have never played it before or really have not seen it at all in videos yeah you will get at least 100 hours of pure fun after that its up to you if you still enjoy the game or not and its grind of its levels and getting better at the pvp

Game is in a bit of a rough spot right now bug wise. I rarely run into sweatlords... If it worries you just avoid the gold rush hours (time slots where you can sell loot for increased reward). The Tall tales (story) you can do in the PvE mode although i would advice you to stay in PvP for the most part outside of that. You receive reduced rewards for playing in PvE and the reputation rank you can achieve in that mode is limited. Also if you spend all your time in PvE you will never learn to defend your shiny treasures in PvP, nor how to play to not make yourself a irresistible and obvious target. Sure sometimes you run into people looking for a fight, but i have found that generally unless you're looking for a fight yourself you will be left alone.
The cheating problem i have not noticed at all... I have actually only once in my entire time playing this game come across blatant cheating... And that was in hourglass (matchmade pvp) which i personally don't partake in.
The game is more fun with friends but playing alone is definitely possible as well, although you will have to pick your fights more carefully.
The season pass in this game is pretty fair, the premium track holds the minority of the rewards although they do tend to be the coolest rewards. You can unlock the entire season pass and then buy the premium track and you will recieve the rewards, so there is no need to buy the season pass until you already have unlocked whatever you want in the premium tab.

There is safer seas if you dont want to. adding an 'allow pvp' mode would mean it gets exploited easily. like say i'm in a good fight, theyre almost sunk, so they quickly hit that option, fight ruined. another, i hop servers, find stacked FOTD, but cant get them because they activated 'disallow pvp', then cant tuck and attempt to steal it. also yes there's HG, but its baaaaaaaad, and it's not adventure.

Yes and no.

Yes if you enjoy pirate games and don't mind sinking a lot when you're new.
No if you don't enjoy PvP or don't take defeat very well.
