Max players in a party?

I tried using the search feature but didnt see what I was looking for, so I apologize if this has been answered already. I am wondering how many players/friends can play this together? My group is about 7-8 people weekly and we have been looking for a new game to dive into as a group. This game looks like a blast if we can all party up together. Thanks all!

Probably some bad news for ya, but I'll simply start by sharing this article with you: http://seaofthieves.wiki.gg/wiki/Ships (sloops: 2, brigs: 3, galleons: 4) which is fairly accurate even up to the currently released season for boat sizes and crew limitations. I'm sure there's something similar on the main SoT website somewhere but I simply cannot locate it atm. Also, I believe the server limit/capacity for ships has been raised/lowered in past seasons but if I'm not mistaken I believe it's back to either 5 or 6 (I honestly can't remember). Btw odds of randomly encountering a friend (in your social list) on their own boat are extremely low but it does occasionally occur.

I don't know if it will help, because you can play with a maximum of 4 people in one crew, so you only can to belong to one guild, but this does not allow you to play together on two ships next to each other, or on one ship with more people :c

you can grab two galleons and use the alliance flag and gang up on other crews.

Well that is extremely disappointing. I guess I will keep hunting for a game that allows us to all play together. Thank you for the replies.

Couple years ago I had this same problem. So what we would do is all start our own games with closed crews with galleons ( brigs later when we noticed how bad the galleon was) So we had 8 ships and we would raise some flag that made you visible on other crews maps. We used this information to find each other.

This would take between 10 minutes and an hour to do. I have no idea if this is still possible today but if it is two brigs and a sloop is a very fun fleet with eight people.

Or just play normally on your 1-2 ships. Find other ships to ally with - and if they have spots or if they're leaving game, invite your friends to that ship's crew.

When I was playing a few years ago what we would do is have everyone in our 6 person group coordinate in voice chat to log into our own separate Brigantine ( 3 crew ship), raise the red Reaper flag in the flag box in the crows nest to mark themselves on the map, then check the map and see if at least 2 out of 6 of us were on the same server. if so, invites get sent around and we meet up in game. it admittedly could take a long time, but you could also get lucky and achieve it in like 3 log ins. But it also took 8+ before people gave up. not sure if it still works or if there is a new or better way. good luck!

The only thing really to do in that case, is get on boats, and discord. Evertime you spawn raise the flag that everyone can see its a pvp, flag not the reaper one. I forget the name of it, but everyone can see it on map. Talk on discord, if you do not see it. Sever hop until you do.

I am just not sure how long that will take, could be like just a few mins, or could be hours I do not know. But that is how ally severs work. Yes I have been on one, I was solo slooping,

Like 2 allied ships came up to me, and were like are you part of whatever, I was umm nope. Then were like do you want to join this alliance. Me being alone with 2 ships staring down at me while I am on island, I know I am screwed, was yep of course. Then I saw every ship on map was an ally. But I have to admit, I made a crap ton of money without doing much.
