Safer Seas
So two years ago when I left you got a ban for talking about such a mode. They had said something along the line of this being a settled matter and they would never add such a mode. They seemed so sure.

What changed their mind? What made them crack?

Do they still ban threads for talking about this mode even though it has been added to the game?

Can I rest assured that when I play on High Seas most everyone I run into will be looking for a fight now? As if they were not surely they would play on Safer Seas right?

Threads got locked and people got banned over asking for 'alliance servers, but sanctioned by Rare'. Nothing about such a design would be good for business. I'm sure a lot of people will do their best to conflate that with the current Safer seas - they are wrong.

"What changed their mind? What made them crack?"

Keep in mind that these are the same devs who kept the Monkey Island tall tales quiet enough that nobody saw it coming. These changes were planned for months, maybe more than a year in advance.

"Do they still ban threads for talking about this mode even though it has been added to the game?"

Threads still get locked or deleted for the usual reasons like getting into insults towards developers and other players. A lot of threads were filled with so much misinformation that the only response was an article link followed by an anchor drop.

No to both questions.

Nothing changed in the game, open crew is still full of people that skipped the tutorial and sinks to a random rock, i even found a pirate legend with gold curse sinking to storm...

Now, you won't get banned for talk about his, nobody ever did... The people that got banned at least from the steam forum is because they went apeship when the moderator closed their daily "i died in an online game i deserve a server only for myself or the devs are this this and that" then they either just created another one every day or just blatantly insulted the mods in their own "mods are toxic because they don't let me tell the devs how to manage their game via insults".

According to what the devs said in the video where they announced this mode, is because they heard the community about some of them wanting to be chilld and do whatever at their own phase witouth feeling in a rush because someone might sink them.

So all the people who didn't want to PvP got a server to play on. However some of them still choose to play on the PvP server only to get upset when PvP happens? Oh well I suppose it is nice to hear that Sea of Thieves is the same as it was when I left.

I didn't get banned. I saw other people get banned.
Well no because you don't get commendations in safe seas, you don't even get the full gold amount. Leaving the mode pointless for even the most passive quests like fishing. :steamfacepalm:

You can get most of the commendations in the game, you're just spewing complete misinfo there.
I had my threads locked when I suggested an arena style PvE mode where you would have an area lock off by the red mist and would have a time limit to complete 1 of 3 tasks such as digging up 3 maps or completing this world event then getting a reward of like some money and its like a new faction for it but noooooooooooooooooooooooooo that got locked and they added the WORST way to put PvE into the game just uninstall its not worth it anymore.

I won't say all get upset, of course some still will. Like my boys and I. Only play on higher seas. I guess if we were going to do a tall tale we would do safer seas. Just to get the tale done without a hassle. But we and others know the risk. Just a guess that others do. I just figure since I do and I am not that smart, others must to.

We are one of those crews that do not go looking for fights. Most of the time, sometimes after we cash in, and we no its to long to bother getting a flag to rank 5 again. But we have a ton of supplies, if we see a reaper on the map, we might go after it.

But for the most part, we look to ally, as there is just more money in two or more ships doing stuff making money. Then there is sinking one that is not even done whatever it is they were doing so they do not have all the loot they could have anyways.

But yes we have been sunk, with loot sometimes a fair bit. But we all know that is part of the game. Now we are ok at pvp. Not great but ok.

But for the most part we do not run into that many ships that are looking to fight. We hit rank 5 and sell proabably at least 10 times, to every 1 time we get sunk, that is kind of a guess, I would bet it is even higher then that but do not want to jink myself.

So the payout of higher seas, and being able to use the soverign. Is worth the odd time you might get sunk.

But yea some people still do not get it and cry when they get sunk.

The only thing on safer seas I think, and do not see the harm in it is having a captains boat. I mean for time being able to use the soverign. Just because selling to each faction is a pain. its the time thing for me work 40+ hours every week. Now with my boys its not so bad at least I have 3 people selling so it speeds things up.

Plus you can decorate your ship, which at the moment you can not do on safer seas. I just
do not see the harm in that is man loot and everything is cut down there.

But that is just me, and again, we tried safer seas a few times. Then we were like screw this will we take our chances. If we get sunk so be it. we do not get mad we know its part of the game. But higher seas Its worth the risk.

Unless your are just fishing or doing a tall tale. I would say do those on safer seas.

Sorry for long post. But it bugs me when people say pve guys complain about getting sunk, as we do not and we are 98% of the time pve's. But we fight when we have to. And do not complain when we lose. We have had people ally with us after fighting them, like for example over a fort, which we cleared. BUt talking to each other on open mic while fighting, helped.

Not being ♥♥♥♥♥, nor was the team that sunk us. Just hey man you want this you have to earn it, and they were like ok, and when they did they were like gg guys want to ally.

Again srry for long post it bugs me when ever I hear every pve'r complains about getting sunk.
