people in brig should NOT get rewarded
if we can't kick people, and brigged mates can still get paid, what is the incentive for being helpful to the crew?

either let me kick that freeloader or make it so they can't get paid for everyone else's hard work.

Yeah, I agree. There should be more than one penalty for being locked in the brig, not just being unable to move around freely on deck, but being cut off from being paid, too.

Ok OP, what happens when you've been on a brigantine for an hour, got your flag leveled up, some supplies stocked, and are sailing to turn in the pile of loot you got. About 10 minutes ago both your teammates had to go, and now those slots are being filled with two new players.

Once they're both loaded in, suddenly a black screen hits you, and you're in the brig.

Under your system, they sail off. turn in your pile of loot with your flag bonus and you make nothing while they both make all.

The system in place protects grief victims on both sides. It protects people thrown in brigs for no reason by griefers by still paying them gold and it protects crews from being sabotaged by a griefer by rendering them unable to do anything.

I don't disagree that one should be able to make an actual managed crew where you have basically full crew control like kicking. I think Rare should make this available. It shouldn't be filled by open crew matchmaking though . You would have to manually invite people to it so they (in a way) accept to not having protections from potential admin abuse (like getting kicked when its time to turn in loot so the host can invite a buddy for free loot).

But honestly, it sounds like you have some growing up to do if it bothers you someone is getting something for free. They're not taking any of your cut so why do you care? If your complaint is you could have gotten more faster, then why not sell/lower flag at the first sign of trouble and start fresh?

It just seems like a lot of frustration over literally nothing. Oh noooooooo! Someone got a small sum of meaningless in game dollary-doos for nothing. Help! Devs!
It looks like you don't have enough hours in the game to have experienced carrying the whole voyage just to be sent to jail by the randoms yelling at you to GTFO from the ship because their friend wants to use your slot.

At that point they will keep you there for like an hour and sink the ship without selling the loot just to make sure you get nothing from it but it's better to stay because if you leave you teach them that some people are too fragile they can use jail as vote kick system to gift your loot to their friends.

The jailed user reciving money was intended so people don't abuse of that and at least if they decide to sell you get the money from the time you helped your crew. There are more people being rewarded for being useless than people rewarded for being in jail, just look at all those morons that starts to fish during an important part of the voyage or they always go AFK when it's the most important and dangerous moment of the trip wich is selling, you don't know if there is an ambush waiting for you by the outpost or your crew mates will drop anchor 20 miles away wasting enough time for a ship to catch up.

As a player that regularly meets the other side, I have to say that there's no better feeling than joining a random ship that happens to be selling loot. Easiest money making method ever.
I've always wondered why players in confinement are allowed to destroy the ship if they have firebombs in their inventory.

Because a couple of buckets of water prevent the fires

Having a way to put out fires doesn't address why players should be able to start unnecessary disruptions, lol.

People in jail shouldn't be able to use items at all, you can sink a ship if you backsplash in the right moment, i did it multiple times messing with their timing and they backsplash too as i made sure the water lvl was above them so they couldn't do any saving time trick.

But just as people in jail shouldn't be able to use items, people that are not in jail shouldn't be able to attack people in jail so they don't use it to troll either.
How does profitting while in the brig give the player any competitive advantage? To me it sucks being brigged as you're now unable to enjoy the game and get gold how it was intended - piracy.
