I have other strange events that happened in the sea to me but i had no explanation for them.
I guess this is why i have anxiety in deep water related stuff, including games.
Right now the game has some issue with sharks that apparently they will spawn more often than what they should, but they don't make weird noises when trying to bite you like in tomb raider.
But sometimes they can spawn right on you, literally you can be swimming and you feel like something is slighty pushing you to the side, it's a shark that spawned from inside you like in an alien movie.
You can also have sirens.
Anyway after a while you get used to this, especially when you realize how easy is to kill a shark even with a sword, you only need to learn an easy pattern then you will jump into them for free meat.
There is the megalodon but it won't attack you even if you jump on it with a sword, but gotta be careful it's usually being followed by normal sharks.
The kraken is literally the second easiest enemy in the game.
Don't be afraid to do the under water shrines or arenas, you can't drown and you rarelly get attacked by sharks down there, except in the shrine of hungering or whatever, that one is literally shark themed.
There are some areas where the water gets "darker" as in brownish.
But that's like the area not the deep, and you can still see althought when you're in deep sea you see no bottom unless you're around some under water temple or arena.
You only get pitch black water when the kraken is there, but there is nothing anyway no sharks or anything so you can just swimp up and swim back to your ship if you happen to be knocked off the ship.
Kraken can't attack you if you're swimming but if you swim under the water you take damage over time.
Actually there is a tall tale where everything is really dark but it's only for a few minutes and there is nothing that can harm you down there.
Just to make it clear, nope you will never be attacked in complete dark water.
I don't think they can spawn during the pitch black from the kraken, at least i never had that happen to me in about 1800 hours.
Also sharks can't attack you if you're on a rowboat. So if you still that scared you can use a rowboat to get into the island and to go back to your ship, until you get used to the game.
Here's a trick to get to an island, enemy ship, etc. without touching water, aim your cannon, climb in the cannon, and fire yourself to your destination. It's faster and more fun than swimming, just be warned that you might take some damage when you land.
