There's no way to tune down the waves.
You can avoid sailing in the NW direction.
You can also tune down the graphic settings - especially those related to water effects.

no, and the devs abandoned this forum a few weeks ago (there was an official announcement and everything) and no longer check it, try their official forum

I do not suffer from motion sickness, but if I did, would I go on a cruise? Then say you guys need to do something about the ocean, so I am not throwing up all the time.

I mean if you suffer from it, then do not go on a cruise. LIke say I am afraid of flying. Can I ask the pilot please do not put this plane in the air.

Just do not go on plane and drive, unless you have to go across ocean, its suck it up or do not go.

I hate to be rude but adapt, or do not play.

This guy gets it.

And please don't get me wrong. It's not that i'm not empathetic, it the opposite.

Please for the love of god , if something brings you discomfort, take measures to avoid it.

Or take Dramamine.

It is very interesting that seasickness can be triggered virtually.

Agreed, it's typically triggered by the vestibular system. By motion.

The illusion of Sea of Thieves is so good that even our brains can be fooled by it.
Seeing is probably the same as believing.

And a picture is worth a thousand words.

Our eyes contribute to our body's sense of balance. Try balancing on one leg with your eyes closed/open. You'll find it much easier with your eyes open. Also, I tried googling it. It seems related to the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR).

Some games offer motion-sickness mode. In the game "Raft", when motion sickness mode is switched on, the waves appear calm. When motion sickness mode is switched off, the waves are typically as high as half a wall. I haven't seen this feature in SoT. If it's ever available, I'm pretty sure it changes gameplay a lot - pvp, harpoon, etc.

i might be wrong on this but i think the waves in the sea are sync'd with all the servers. so i dont think it would ever be possible for smaller waves in SoT

So everyone will enable that thing to have easier shots lol. Just like those PC users moving to controller to get auto aim.
Waves main thing in this game, affects your guns and cannons and literally everyting in the game.

Yes. Cannon aiming with the waves is such an integral part of high seas.

Waves are a server side thing. Not sure to what extent it is sync-ed across servers.

Check out your settings > input > aim assist.
It's a common feature for players using controllers on console/PC in various games. You could try switching between the controller / keyboard+mouse to see what suits you best.
