Never Doing a Sunken Treasury Raid Again

Played solo on Safer Seas, went there, parked my ship within the glowing area, killed the waves of enemies, put the treasure in the merfolk statue, used the statue to warp to my ship, appeared in an outpost tavern, my ship was at the dock. saw no sign of the merfolk who delivers the loot. This is what I get for doing a quest that involves actual loading screens in a game that's always online.

EDIT: Managed to correctly guess which deep sea location it was and recover the loot. It seems a ghost fleet sank my ship while I was down below. So yeah, definitely not doing one of those again.

EDIT 2: More likely it was the result of a passing storm.

You were supposed to return to the "glowing arean" then the mermaid will show up with your loot.

"Supposed to" is the correct way to put it. I've dived down to those locations before, and I know that the mermaid statue is supposed to warp me to that area.

The quest didn't even give me the option to sail there in the first place. I'm not sure where it was at this point.

That's why i said you were supposed to go back there...the siren won't follow you. You need to return to the same exact place and the siren will be waiting up there. Also it's not a normal siren is actually hotter.

There's a difference between sirens and merfolk, and no, I'm only supposed to appear at my ship, which was supposed to still be in the water above.

Did your ship sink while you where is the treasury? I did three today and I did not have any issues.

Your ship sunk you said it yourself, it was at an outpost... So yes you're supposed to go back and talk to the hot sirens to give your loot back.

Normally idle ships don't attract fire from anything that spawns in. I've come back to see a Skelly galleon sailing right past my parked sloop while doing a fort and they didn't fire on it.

Typical culprits for finding your ship sunk on you when unattended are passing storms or forgetting minor damage that eventually lets in enough water to sink it. (A chest of sorrows anywhere on the boat, including a docked rowboat will sink you pretty quickly as well) Always check that the hold floor is dry. If there is a persistent skiff of water that you can always pick up with a bucket, search for a minor leak and patch it before leaving the ship. especially up by the navigation table, these often don't even look like holes.

I'm inclined to think it was the result of a storm. I am VERY attentive to damage to my ship, and I gave it the old once-over before I dove, and I didn't have any treasure on my ship, cursed or otherwise.

They've added the loading sequence where the ship travels underwater (which was mandatory for this voyage). I was expecting the ship to arrive and "dock" underwater based on that.

But it makes a little more sense why you didn't remember the shrine location. FYI, you can make marks on the map table so you can find your way back if your ship despawns again.

I'm not new to this game. I've done one of those diving quests before, and I am WELL aware that I can mark locations on the map.
