What's even the point? Even what are now basic features like the Sovereign are unavailable for seemingly no reason.
The cost of supplies is also unsustainable, in a mode where you only gain 30% of base rewards and no emissaries allowed (compared to 100% base plus 150% emissary lvl 5, that's a difference of more than 8 times). To put things into perspective, a Captain's chest is sold at 1400 with a Gold Hoarder or Reaper emissary, while in Safer Seas you're stuck at selling it at a mere 168. But the supplies still cost the same.
IMO its the devs punishing ppl for asking for a playable game without all the toxic ppl, yes there are fine ppl but the trolls are as thick as Skyrim.
Still though when I want pvp I want pvp but I'd also like to see other ships and not go "fk okay the next 20 minutes to an hour is gonna be fighting fine" basically seeing other players is never enjoyable and with a PVE mode that isn't complete dog $hlt they could make seeing other ships enjoyable and fun.
Always wanted to get into the game but I have no buddies that wanna play it despite the fact that they play lethal company all the time and its the SAME GAMEPLAY LOOP!
Anyway, played about 10 hours on SS and its been fun. Was tough learning how to do ship to ship combat all alone in a sloop but I've done ok.
But yeah, I usually log in and take a merchant mission to deliver some crates.
I'll deliver them and twice now I've found a message in a bottle and that sent me off on a quest.
So I arrive at the message location and find a named skeleton with another map to an ashen chest.
Defeat him and get that then finish my bottle quest.
Do another mission maybe a treasure map or another merchant deal.
Start heading back toward an outpost and a skeleton ship pops out of the waves!
Juggling ammo, healing, leaks, and cannon fire, I prevail.
Collect the loot and dodge a storm returning to the outpost but make it.
I now spend 10ish minutes running loot to the vendors since I have so much and might not have a treasure chest to do three at once.
If I'm lucky and one of the skulls I turn in was a king skull or something I'll make like 3000 gold tops.
It's still fun, but knowing I'm missing out on 70% and am going to hit a ceiling on what...skins...I get is a bummer.
Had it all done to me and my crew, backstabbing friendly keggings, Alliance to fight a reaper only to back stab once the reaper is gone, even had one Brig ask us for an Alliance so we'd help them fight a Reaper Gallon our pay would be what we got through them selling but after we sank the Reaper Gallon and we were all within sight of a port they kegged us and then broke the Alliance then they said "sorry couldn't trust you" like Bltch we just took out a Gallon for you, like I get it if you Keg us then sell everything but to keg us then break the Alliance total $0B's across the board.
Na they were just T00l$ who couldn't fight a Gallon so they had to $0B their way out, imo.
its okay to say you don't have a family or friends to play the game with
but many people, including parents do infact play this game with their little kids.
big shocker I know! but some of us are not willing to grind out, and sit with extremely toxic player's who only enjoyment is hunting down other players because they decided to no life the game and have nothing else to do.
like...the experiences many of us have gotten, is just players completely demolishing us for no reason, giving us no chances, and then ♥♥♥♥ talking us to high hell and back. and you expect new players to just be okay with that? just to be steam rolled every time they are on? like bro, just say you're one of those toxic pvper's and get out of here lmao
