Will safer seas ever be less punishing to play?
I get you want people to play pvp, but there are those of that can't like myself.
Im autistic and deal with seviere anxiety and other medical stuff, why does it have to be so restricting when i bought the game and just to have fun and enjoy a cool pirate game. I just dont understand why you have to be so extreme with reducing gold and experiences and features we share because we cant play pvp. what we do playing dont affect any pvp players so why do i feel like im being forced to play it.

I understand i cant have because its big player thingg like
  • Guilds
  • World Raids, i think its called.
because it's just me and a couple friends.
But I cant
  • My own ship
  • Buy deccorations
  • sell treasure and gold the same. i fought my way to it, and took the time to take it to my ship, and be attacked by skeletons and shark bruice the same.
but you left all micro transactions in there for me to buy and not be able to use?
i bough quite a few, and bought, but why bother when i cant use them.
sorry if i dont understand, but uoy got the money from our purchases, and the stats for us being active playing it, i know you all at rare worked really hard on this game but its still sales and active players. sorry if its conffusing to read, i have a hard time explaining what im thinking :/

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and stay safe :) :steamhappy:

How to be toxic:

Buy a PvPvE game, complain about the PvP part. Until Devs take pity on you and add a safe mode.

Complain about safe mode being too restrictive

Call PvP player toxic for doing PvP stuff in a PvPvE game

Or do exactly what you just did, either way.

Good job not reading anything and giving an unneeded comment.

Hey it's the pie guy I was talking about earlier! That's the kind of guy I was talking about. They said exactly what I said they would say!

If they spawn camp you without sinking your ship for a long time, record. That pirate can be banned. But if they spawn camp you to sink your ship, that's fair, though frustrating.

Now my question is, how would you know whether or not they took your flag?

Would you like to post in the Captain's Log thread? I would like to see the pattern in other people's logs too. It's frustrating, but it doesn't happen too often. 2 out of 3 ship encounters tend to be neutral/friendly. About 1 out of 3 wants to fight. Then, there's a chance you succeed in winning the fight or escaping a chase.
They fire bombed my ship while I was selling at an outpost, then proceeded to kill me (4 on 1) over and over while my ship slowly burnt. After It sunk I sailed back to the same outpost to see if any of my loot was left (also hoping for some revenge), and it was all still there. They where probably bored, or saw me as a risk to their loot.

It doesn't happen often, like you said 2/3 are usually friendly. But it's kind of like a restaurant where people don't often remember the 9 times they had an excellent meal, although they never forget the one time they found a hair in their soup.

I see. Yeah, we tend to remember the painful experiences more than the smooth ones.

I think your suggestion about the matchmaking should have another thread - it'll be lost in this thread (originally about decoration/captaincy/goldrate in safer seas).

The only cosmetics you can't use in safer seas are trinkets/ship decorations and ship crests. All the other ship cosmetics can be used, just apply them to the ship every time you start a session. As for increased rewards, the official statement on that is:

The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but families, players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly become available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and being a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.

I will also point out that if you choose the option "closed crew", it prevents random people from joining your crew uninvited.
-
do you guys just choose to ignore the biggest problem you have?? the countless spawn camping? the extremely toxic players ruining experiences by just hunting down any new players that join, making progression so much harder when people can abuse mechanics in the game that they've learned for the 1000+ hours they've played? while my barely 7 hours can't even remember to check the island for food/ammo/explosives.
Like I get it, you want players to get into higher sea's to experience the "pirate life" but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, have you sat down and played?? its so unfair, unfun, unbalanced and un real how some of these players can put their ship on auto pilot, cannon themself onto a fleet of 4, take them all out, blow up their ship, get back on their ship, steal on the loot and be back before sun down.
that RUINS experiences and just sucks all the fun out of the game, I can't tell if you and other developers are being ignorant or just choosing to give us a middle finger.
most of us are gonna stay in safer sea's past level 40, we don't care, lock us out of rewards and other stuff, Id rather stay in safer sea's with a stress free game, then having to constantly check every angle stressing myself out because some high level player is gonna come in, and wipe me and my team because were still learning trying to just level up a tiny bit, but can't even get a chalice to turn in.
safer sea's is an option for players who want to play CASUALLY and just wanting to be what the game offer's, a fun pirate adventure with friends or family.
high sea's are for the players looking to play for challenge or looking to be the best pirate, but until you actually NOTICE and deal with the extreme toxicity that your player base has, be expected to see more and more post about safer sea's and stuff being unlocked.

Holy wall of text.

I don’t experience the things you describe when I play the game, not when I had 7 hours in and not now when I have over 300.

Honestly really confused when I read this stuff.

Have I been kegged while minding my own business fishing at a sea port? Sure. Have I had to battle other ships on the sea and other players on the land? Sure.

But this is a game about pirates , being pirates, on the open seas. Right?

give rare a few more months to start getting more desperate and a lot of restrictions will probably get taken away eventually

To be fair, it's a live service multiplayer game and you're asking to beat the game the developers did not intend. Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and letting Rare know. But it seems like the best solution might be to playing sailing simulator or another pirate game that does not punish you for your limitations.

If you can point us to another pirate game where you are a pirate on a ship (and not the ship itself) and you can go on little adventures to get money for fun cosmetics and there are fantastical elements (skellies, megs, etc.) and allows for solo play or small-scale multiplayer, then we're all ears.

Assassins Creed Black Flag and Assassins Creed Rogue, maybe? Or the upcoming Skull & Bones? Other than that I can't think of anything. I would also like to know if there are others. And no, being a space pirate doesn't count, it's not the same.

(might not fulfill the cosmetics requirement)

Poe's law is a thing. And there are more than enough people in this community who would've recommended it as a "Get out of my game you're ruining by not affecting my gameplay at all!" sort of response.
MagikarpMagi 2024 年 1 月 26 日 下午 3:56
I think recommending a 2011 Lego game is beyond the pale for the application of Poe's Law, but I guess you're seen some ♥♥♥♥
