Not really sure what exactly reminds you of Sekiro for being honest though.
It's an 3d action game, third person. Similarities kinda stop here really.
Both are linear too i guess yeah.
But also playing on the hardest difficulty, and being further in the game than you (half or 2/3 of the story i think), I would say that as you continue playing on the hardest difficulty because you will quickly realize some important differences between the 2 games:
- Sekiro encourage the player to be discrete in many situations, and you are often rewarded with playing stealthily, making some part quite easy when not rushing to fight. You can't really do that in Fallen Order and in some parts with several ennemies you can quickly get overwhelmed by shots and attacks from every directions, doesn't matter how good you are at fighting 1v1.
- Probably the biggest difference for me, but the sword fighting is not quite the same. Overall, the swordfighting pacing is slower in Fallen Order, and except when using the Force, if that, Kal will slowly act especially when parrying, while in Sekiro, attacks parrys and dodges are almost immediate. The perfect parry window is smaller in Fallen Order and because many ennemies will move away from you, you can't just always stay in close range, and they will also quickly attack you from afar if you don't close the gap when needed.
- All this to point out what imo makes the biggest difference when fighting at the hardest difficulty: You have to actively and smartly use the Force. In Sekiro, when you get strong and good enough, you just need your sword to beat any ennemies, including bosses with parrys, counters and Mikiri counters, you don't even need to use the equipments or items. In Fallen Order you have to also become a master at using the Force to pace your fight and handling several ennemies.
Now, this is only my humble opinion, and as I personally prefer faster paced fights, I prefer Sekiro's gameplay in that aspect, once you get good enough you truly feel like a swordmaster perfectly timing your attacks, parrys and dodges, something I have yet to feel in Fallen Order.
And yeah, the rest of the content of the game is mostly cosmetics collectibles, which is nice bc I also like looking for these, but once you've finished the story and collected everything, I don't think there's anything else to do. The only optional "bosses" are the rare creatures from 4 planets which are honestly quite weak as you'd expect them for post game content, but are just like stronger variants of big monsters, nothing you can't beat after some tries when meeting them for the first time in the story..
Well there's a bit of an emphasis on parry and the skill tree sort of reminded me of Sekiro.
Biggest flaw of the combat so far is the lack of real bosses. I've completed 39% of the game according to my save and so far i haven't encountered anything of note.
Honestly a few more challenging or unique bosses like this would have spiced up this game quite a bit.
Still enjoying the levels. Back to Zeffo to unlock even more areas and secrets. It's not Souls-like per-se but it does sort of capture that grand scale feeling.
BTW, i like how most of the dialogue is fairly well acted but when it came to the rebels on the Wookiee planet (who for some reason are mostly women, what is Forest Whitaker up to?) the voice acting quality drops suddenly. There's this one NPC with her husband that died on Zeffo and the voice acting is beyond atrocious. Surely they could find someone around the office that could do better than this? It's not a big deal or anything just odd. Guess they blew all their budget on the named actors they got in the game and couldn't afford a few random lines for minor NPCs.

Combat system isn't really bad, it's just the lack of interesting bosses that sort of makes this game FromSoft-lite, but i'm still enjoying it.
Riding the bird was kinda of cool. Nice 80s movie feeling. I think i actually spotted Falcor in Bogano but i don't think i'm gonna get to ride it.
Lack of interesting bosses is really the weak point of this game. Too many animals needed more sith or something like that.

This is what this game really needed. Not even that many just a few more to break the monotomy of all those stupid beasts. I wanted to get the fight perfect but the walk back was too annoying so screw it, heh.
Malicos was a pretty cool character, but i didn't really like the witch. Also, the voice acting when you talk to her after the fight was atrocious. CLEARLY not the same actress. She sounds like Mathesar from Galaxy Quest. They went all out with cinematics and real actors but apparently they had to cut corners a few times. The NPCs on Kashyyyk sound pretty bad too, and also it's interesting that Saw had to "leave". Probably they just couldn't hold on Forest Whitaker for too long.
Most of the acting is still pretty good though. Cal is actually great, perfect Luke-type character. Cere and Greez are good, and Tony Amendola was great as well. Last cinematic with him was something, though i had to laugh a bit at BD-1 glancing sideways, looking sad. Like, it's a droid come on lol.

Not sure i like this fan service to be honest. Feels kinda of tacky. And the fact i can't fight him is pretty silly.
Anyway, the Malenia wannabe wasn't all that in the end, but still kinda of fun to figure out. Her getting Joe Bidened by Vader is pretty fitting.
Not bad though. This may be the best single player Star Wars game since KoTOR2, which isn't saying much maybe as there haven't been many but hey, it's something. Story was enjoyable but the ending was a bit out there. Didn't like Merrin, too goofy of a character with that terrible voice acting (it's like a Russian person who barely speaks English doing a bad fake Russian accent it's like starting to infinity) and was added way too late. Plus witches in Star Wars are just dumb. Greez was great, Cere was better than i expected (Debra Wilsom is still ugly though. Trilla also needed a nose job lmao), Cordova was great (hey, it's Tony Amendola, can't go wrong), BD-1 was super cute and i also liked Cal. Probably the most Luke-like character i've seen in a Star Wars game.
The whole ending with Vader was pretty lame though. I'm not a fan of... fan service. I blame Disney i think they forced Respawn to tie in the game to that Rogue One movie for marketing reasons.
It’s not really fan service for Vader to be there, he oversees the Inquisitors. There also isn’t any significant connection to Rogue One outside of Saws brief appearance (originally a TCW character).
"Here some random light thoughts"
Yes, and?
