i can't start the game
when i try to launch the game it doesn't work and on the EA app it says that an incompatible version is installed on my decive please help

Uninstall the EA client app. Go to EA's website, download the latest client. Run it's installation. Afterward, R-click the game in steam, choose properties--files tab....and do the 'Verify Files' option. Next, launch the EA client and select the game in EA client library and verify it's installation on that side of the equation. You should have linked your EA client with Steam account at some point. If not, do so and it will make getting these darn games launching a bit easier.....along with the installs working a bit better.....hopefully.

The reason I'm recommending you to uninstall the EA client and install the latest version is....there was an issue in one of the EA client updates that broke the update process. And, that maybe what you experienced.....thus causing that error message.

@Vertix, how did you get it fixed, though? I'm encountering the same problem and can't get it to work.

tbh i don't really remember, i think i just uninstalled the game on the EA app but i don't fully remember

I finally found out what the solution was on my end. I had to go use regedit to edit the installDirectory of the game because it didn't point to the correct folder.
For anyone who wants to try this:
1. hit your windows key and search for "regedit"
2. go to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Respawn\Jedi Fallen Order"
3. Change the value of the variable "Install Dir" to whatever your install directory is

I was getting a repeated "You must d/l a new app to launch the game" message with the only option being going to the Microsoft Store to look, which didn't work.

Turns out launching the game MANUALLY from inside the game folder got it to launch correctly.

Look in the game folder's "Win64" folder, see if there are two different applications for launching. One might say "starwarsjedifallenorder". The other one says "SwGame-Win64-Shipping".

Manually launch the game by clicking SwGame-Win64-Shipping and see if it works. It did for me.
