How to beat the Ninth Sister
I was really stuck on this fight. Many people in Steam Discussions asked for help fighting the Ninth Sister in WookieWorld. A lot of the response is "get better," "play defense, stay back, move in and strike when she commits to a big move."

That last technique is correct. But many people are having problems they can't fix with the 3 Quick Time Events during the fight. At like 50% health, you get lightsaber locked with her and the game flashes the X button at you. At 25%, the game does it with the B button. At "right about to kill her" it does it with the X button again.

I didn't see anybody using this phrase in discussions, but I always thought the words "Quick Time Event" were pretty common in gaming. Suddenly, game play changes to challenge the player to press a button a lot or to press a sequence of buttons to produce some result or not die or what have you. That's what those three lightsaber lock moments are - QTEs.

I did this fight over and over. I was getting good at it. On the final clash, no matter my health, I'd lose - one hit kill with no chance to avoid or escape it. I couldn't find any posts here where anyone clarified this problem and other posters replied. I had to go to Youtube comments sections for advice. That's how badly the Steam Community let me down - I had to go to Youtube comments!

And none of their advice was really right either. People just said to spam the X button, then repeat for B and X again. But I tried that over and over and lost. People said to remap your keys, but that's silly.

So what I finally figured out is this: the buttons on screen always seem to pulse - the letter appears on screen and then gets bigger. I think you're supposed to press the button on screen once for *every* pulse, where being small and getting big are EACH pulses. So it's a tap-tap to the rhythm of the pulses, not spamming the button or holding it or pressing it once. Everyone who was spamming the button managed to somehow luck their way into victory; I guess those guys have fast fingers.

I also strongly suspect that when the button symbol is small, you tap the button on your controller, and that when the button pulses to become bigger, you do a longer press of the button. That last part might be wrong, but the results are unquestionable: I fought her like 30-40 times. Every fight, I usually win the first Quick Time Event, but I always lose the second and the third. I tried the tap-tap approach and I won all clashes ON THE FIRST TRY.

This fight has made people quit and uninstall the game. The only real problem is that the devs didn't explain the dynamic of what the locked lightsaber clash is or what it requires from you. I hope this helps. If it does, please send thanks, and maybe money.

Thanks for this "tip"should i say?!

I haven't come to this far yet and try it out myself but it seem to me you are right about the event that play the button onscreen that 'pulses'. I have seen this in quite some games now and have to say this is how you might be able to win a battle or any sort of what game you play. Some game use it as a puzzle to put there in the correct moment and for me personaly have been always a joy to figure out things in games and found that olmost every game uses the same concept like this.

I do not know for console games, I asume it is the same way but only with controller, I play on pc only. I maby post here again when I come to to encounter that '9th lady' and tell my conclussions.
This intresting post and lets see what others think of it :)

namaste 🙏

You can turn off button-mashing QTEs in the accessibility menu, BTW. I did. I've never liked that in any game.

Ninth Sister is the only boss I've actually been able to parry. Big, slow, telegraphed moves. Easiest boss fight IMO.
Spamming it worked for me on every QTE prompt so I don’t believe it’s a pulse thing. I was wondering if it was showing the wrong button to press.

No matter what button it says:
The first and third/last should be whatever your basic attack button is.
The second should be the dodge button.
So if you’ve remapped these two buttons, it will be whatever you remapped them to.

Thanks. I forgot I could do that - and so did all the Youtubers who uninstalled the game. I thought my only option was to go with Story difficulty, or figure out what the button prompt wanted from me.

I also agree about the ease. I wouldn't say she's the easiest, I'd say it's probably the one I adjusted to the quickest. Figuring out her moves is easy. I was able to get her close to death with all my stim packs after, like, 3 tries. I think I became a better fighter bc she's easy to fight back against, and you have a whole lot of Jedi powers by that point.

Absolutely agreed about what the buttons should be, but I never remapped.

I was able to beat her in one go. Didn't do much except for freezing and pushing her, lunging in for the attack and blocking all her attacks.

this worked for me...
..settings.. Gameplay.. turn on the "Disable button mashes and quick-time events", Then spam, not just hold, the attack or other required buttons all 3 times the 9th sister locks onto Cal. Before this fix, 9th Sister always finished her kill shot on me.

Thanks for the advice above - I turned off button mashing and spammed attack on 1st & 3rd and dodge on the 2nd, and beat her first time. (After losing count of the number of attempts previously - I had taken months off of this game because of this fight.)

I feel no shame in admitting I turned the difficulty down for that fight.

For some reason I never quite clicked with the combat in this game. There were moments when it all came together beautifully - blocking, parry etc then I'd get totalled by a 'trooper with a stun baton.

Maybe I just started the game when I didn't have enough patience for it. Interesting though that by the end, unlike say Assassin's Creed games, I didn't feel completely overpowered despite investing heavily in the skill tree.
