Unplayable on PC
massive frame drops, screen stutter, and tearing on the 3080. This game is fun but poorly optimized, save your money.

Sorry, hyperbole is useless, unless your 3080 suddenly became crappier than my 2060 RTX.

It's a CPU heavy game, it ran great on my 10700k. You'll need to list your full specs if you want help troubleshooting. If you have a 4 core like the 7700k you'll have stuttering.

I have a 1060 6gb and an i5 8400k and the game runs fine on max graphics. Only a little bit of stuttering here and there.

dude i play this on my fx 6300 and gtx ti 1050 and it runs smoothly holy sh2t your 3080 must be broken af

Everyone experiences a bit of stutter when shifting between location "cells" on the map; it's a limitation of the underlying engine. But beyond that, with my i7-9750H and 2060 RTX, at all other times I reliably get 60 FPS (vSync'd) at 1080p (more, if I use my laptop's built-in 144 Hz panel instead of my preferred 42" Sony TV).

Frustration is understandable but if the game is truly unplayable with your GPU, your CPU is extremely weak, and/or you have other issues, such as thermal throttling.

How smooth does it run? Like a stable 30 or do you experience drops?

RTX 3060 Ti here. Everything maxed out 1440p, around 100FPS all the time. Got no issues at all.

Yeah, it's a CPU heavy game. Got a 5900X but it worked well on my old 9700K as well.

Sorry, here are my specs. FYI have been running all other games at max settings with zero issues (ie. Destiny, werzone, division 2,)

Intel® Core™ i9-10900KF Processor (10x 3.70 GHz /20MB L3 Cache)
32 GB [8 GB x4] DDR4-3200 Memory Module - Corsair Vengeance-LPX
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 - 10GB GDDR6X - GIGABYTE GAMING OC (VR-Ready)
850 Watt - CORSAIR RM850X Black - 80 PLUS Gold, Fully Modular
CORSAIR iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT 240mm Liquid Cooling System
Primary Hard Drive:
1TB Samsung 970 PRO M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD -- Read: 3500MB/s; Write: 2700MB/s
Secondary Hard Drive:
1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD -- Read: 550MB/s, Write: 520MB/s - Single Drive

I have tried capping my frames at 45, 90, 120, and 144.
I have tried graphics settings from medium to high.
I have tried Vsync off and on.
I even tried dropping my reso from 1080p to 720 as much as it pains me. (monitor is 240hz @ 1080p)
Updated drivers, updated windows, repaired game files.
Yet still, Consistent frame drops to 30 fps persist every 30 seconds or so (not just when the map is loading.

Then you have another problem, which may not actually be the game's fault (altho ofc it may). In other words, you are basing your initial tirade off of an assumption, with zero troubleshooting.

THIS is why you get so much pushback.

Did you buy your memory as a single set of four 8GB modules or was it two separate packs of two 8GB modules? Using 4 sticks of ram can cause problems if they are not all identically matched which is done by the manufacturer (corsair), try taking two sticks out and see if that changes anything.
Bozobub Dec 21, 2020 @ 10:56am
Using a single stick (or other odd number) of RAM also sets it to single-channel access, insread of dual-channel, halving RAM throughput

I'm using a GTX 970 paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x, playing at 1080p. I sit around 55-60 fps, with dips to high 30's mid 40's on occasion in some environments (Kashyyyk mostly). Fallen Order seems very well optimized to me, very happy with how it runs.

Especially with how old my GPU is getting.
