TL;DR
3/10. Lazy and uninspired level design, cliche story that gives me literally zero reason to care about Cal or any of the team, tiresome "saber" combat, and downright horrible use of force.

I've never played a such a mediocre game with such high praise. 3 powers, that's it? The dude learns through touch, but he can only learn 3 powers? The saber combat is more closely akin to swinging a glowing baseball bat, and, why limit the player to preset wall runs? Kyle Katarn could wall run on any wall (seriously, why is this even a limitation for any reason other than horrid game design created to deliberately limit the player. That, or, they genuinely did not think about the lack of logic behind such a decision), has a plethora of force powers (heal, push/pull, choke, lightning, mind trick, saber throw, and speed) even after completely losing connection to the force, and, Jedi Outcast 2 came out in 2002. Have people forgotten what a good Star Wars game is, have the masses been so starved that crumbs from the floor make a worthy substitute for a full warm meal?
The story is weak and filled with Disney level, simplistic writing, uninteresting characters, and absolutely terrible AI with equal animations (random, single, animals shouldn't be more of a challenge than an entire squad of Storm troopers. If you want an even decent challenge, just play it on the hardest difficulty and laugh as the AI does nothing to protect itself. Also, how does a lightsaber increase its emitted light simply by raising it above your head? Makes no sense. Shouldn't even be necessary.

I genuinely do not think this game deserves anywhere near the praise it is getting. It is still a horrible EA title, no matter how much people want to look over the obvious shortcomings.

Go play Jedi Outcast: Jedi Knight 2, or the sequel, Jedi Academy. You'll actually have fun using a lightsaber that actually cuts and force powers you can actually use whenever you want.

Like in the movie business everyone copies what is successful. This game tries to take elements from several successful games and combine them, but they forgot to add the good parts. All that is left is a platformer type game. I have no problem with the lore, or the story, or the hunt down useless dress up items, or the fact i didn't get any extra saber colors until the end instead of the very first where they should have been, but i can't forgive the crap combat mechanics. The controls are laggy as hell, the AI cheats like a mofo, and the combat is just not fluid at all. In fact, i hate the combat so much i quit playing.

OP is right. This game only gets praise because people have forgotten what makes a great game.

That is a very good point, though I like the game very much. Have we been fed ♥♥♥♥ so long we forgot what good games are like? Has the bar been set so low?

Agreed. I don't think it's worth the praise it's got, makes me think EA bought and paid for the good reviews, and the sheep-masses just agree because sheep. Platform-style totally sucks and doesn't fit in an SW-Game, either.

I agree it is getting way more praise then it deserves. Almost the last thing I want to play is a platformer, puzzle game. And that is almost all this game is. It was tolerable, and I liked the story, but it has no replay value at all.
But people are so jaded by developer practices, and pushing of multiplayer garbage that I think this was a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, it is not the air I care to breath. I'd give it a similar score as you did.

Sometimes i feel like im playing a totally different game. i wish i could be conditioned to enjoy something mediocre.

No I don't have it on Steam, there are alternative methods that i will neither confirm or deny using. I refuse to pay money for this, I played through the first 4ish hours of the game, and I haven't been back since. The combat and AI systems are just too primitive. I'm currently playing through Jedi Outcast, a game that is almost 20 years old, and i'm having loads more fun with it, despite its dated quirks. I'm sorry but i rather dislike being hand held, i dislike the limitations of the poor level design/character-world interactions. Story elements are painfully Disney, and for someone who can learn new abilities by touch, Cal's abilities are rather disappointing.
