if you wanna wait for a sale, you can get Fallen Order, and if you like it, can also get Survivor.
Personally, I like it, but I don't have the system requirements for Survivor.
Regarding the meat of your question, if you play Fallen Order first, you will know the characters and background better. I think it's a good idea to play Fallen Order first, but certainly not essential.
And as 'lefty' says, if you play Survivor first, you will probably not want to go back to Fallen Order.
About 7 hours of Jedi Fallen Order was too much. I didn't really feel I was missing anything by jumping into Jedi: Survivor which is a much better game.
Jedi Fallen Order generally has much better performance than Survivor. I'd recommend a CPU with Turbo or Boost clocks above 5GHz, and good cooling.
The engine that the game runs on seems to be overloaded. It was built with console standards in mind, and probably needs a 30 FPS cap.
The engine doesn't seem to be able to utilize more than a quad core, and so clock speeds matter. The game doesn't always maintain a locked 60 FPS on a 5GHz Turbo/Boost.
When the game suffers, it tends to be during cutscenes when loading, or in a town where there is little to no combat.
It doesn't seem to affect most people's enjoyment of the game.
My first hour sent me panicking as my frame rates continually plunged until they got to 20 FPS at 4.1GHz. After which I expected the experience to be like trying to play the game on the Steam Deck. However, while irritating, the experience over my next 18 hours was fine, with 40 FPS generally being the lowest it would drop.
I may not have purchased any EA games while Origin was a thing. I bought Mass Effect 3, and Andromeda, on Origin to avoid stacking launchers.
Might be some gunk left in the registry from the Origin bootstrapper?
