Your game failed to launch. An error at our end caused your launch to fail. Try again a little later.
When I click play in steam I get the error message shown in the title.
I have tried re-installing the game, re-installing the EA App.
The game does play if I go to the local files and use the 'SwGame-Win64-Shipping.exe' to start the game, but I'd like to start the game the normal way as I believe the cloud saves are through the EA App and using the .exe above doesnt seem to sync saves as when I play this game on the Steam Deck the saves are not synced.

Log onto the 'EA Games' website with your EA account. Link EA with Steam in your account / profile settings. Uninstall the current installation of the EA client. Download their EA client installer from their EA Games website and run the installation. Now check an see if it will launch through the EA client. If still an issue, go into the EA client settings and change where the game installation is to the directory Steam installs the game. It should be able to launch at this point. good luck.

Hi Stand Alone.

Try going directly into the game folder on your PC and follow this path:

Jedi: Fallen Order Game Folder/Sw Game/Binaries/W64/SwGame-Win64-Shipping

Look for an application .exe named "SwGame-Win64-Shipping".

There will be another app .exe named "starwarsjedifallenorder" but that is the one that I think your Steam/EA Play is trying to launch from.

Manually double click on the .exe file named SwGame-Win64-Shipping and see if that correctly launches the game for you.

Exactly what I was going to type, this seems to work.

I also play on Deck and had a lot of trouble with this game and getting it to play through Steam. Ultimately what fixed it for me was this:

Delete developer proton files for JFO.

Uninstall JFO.

Go to the EA website and unlink your Steam account.

Reinstall JFO through Steam.

Go to properties and check off "force compatibility"

Launch JFO. Enter your info and relink your Steam & EA accounts when prompted on the EA app pop up.

After doing this I was able to play through Steam & unlock Steam achievements. This may or may not work for you. Good luck

Had this same issue and EA tech support wasn't much help since their info on how to fix the issue seems out of date. They directed me to fix the install path EA Play has/is using try to find the game in. They wanted me to do so using options that EA play doesn't have for a game that is managed by steam (their options only do so for games on Origin). As the issue seems to be EA Play trying to locate the game in the wrong location.

So i found the fix for this which was something that someone else posted in a similar thread. This fixed everything for me and even am getting my Steam achievements for the game now. 2. go to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Respawn\Jedi Fallen Order"
3. Change the value of the variable "Install Dir" to whatever your install directory is for the game in steam.

Bro, thank you so much for this! Game is now launching from Steam and is retrieving the achievements. Finally, I can play the game now! Here take my points!

this needs to be PINNED only solution that has worked.

Crazy its a registry edit too.
.phos. May 2, 2023 @ 5:06am
SO what happens when even the regedit did't work because the the registry already had the correct file path?

I have tried the, unlinking uninstalling ea app, and redownloding it from ea directly.

Of coarse I tried verifying game files
Tried installing from the ea app, but can't as there is no install button, and it just tells me to launch and manage the game from steam.

I tried moving the game to a different drive, had it on my large hdd i use for games i don't play very often, to my nvme drive.

I have tried every fix I have come across and sill cant game to launch. The only one I have not tried is putting it on my C-drive, which I refuse to do. I have multiple drives in my system 3 dedicated to games, with no other folders on them except for game libraries. And my C drive has only system critical files and apps, don't even have a library on it for games. And I have never had a problem that required me to put the game on the C drive.

Any way if anyone has any more ideas, that would be great. At this point I think I am given up, And just wont play it.

Thank you. Don't forget to bill EA for your time. If they refuse to pay it sue them, you would win.

EA doesnt want me to bill them. I would have to use my company's off hours rate which is $175 a hour

Sorry I was referring to Huntress as it was that solution that fixed it for me.

Try this.:

In case anybody experiences my same issue and doesn't want to launch the game without the Steam features (overlay, achievements, etc) which you can achieve using the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Fallen Order\SwGame\Binaries\Win64\SwGame-Win64-Shipping.exe" %command% command suggested by @pirateKing, i was able to solve the issue by uninstalling the game, then very carefully clear the windows registry as well.
To do so, press Windows + R and type regedit, and press Enter.
Go to Edit -> Find, and type Jedi. Check the address of every result you find, and delete anything related to the game. You can press F3 after deleting each result to find the next one.
Once you're done, restart your PC and re-install the game. Hopefully that'll work for you as well.
Thanks but unfortunately, this did not work. Whats funny is that after uninstalling the game, cleaning the registry, restarting my system, reinstalling the game I tried launching it and got the same thing as before, nothing happens a minute later EA pop up saying "game failed to launch something went wrong on our end try again later".
So I then checked the registry under- Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Respawn\Jedi Fallen Order. And none of the files repopulated, which means(I think, I am not good with understanding soft ware)That the game launcher is not even looking at the registry. But I can launch and play the game trough the shipping .exe and it plays smooth and even loaded my save from when I first played the game from when it came out.

This is annoying I wanted to replay it and get my steam achievements, But playing with the shipping .exe none of the steam overlays work, so no screen shots, no play time registered, and no achievements:runecrying::Nepgear:,

How can a company screw up so badly. Something was working then they update it to a better version and out right brake their software on many players system, and the fixes are all over the place meaning there is no good single solution.

Anyway I am done with this. Maybe by the time the Dragon age or Mass Effect come out they will have fixed their software:er_heart: But I know that's just being unrealistic.

EDIT: after restarting my system again the registry file are there again, but still not working.

Sounds like you may have some erroneous registry entries... maybe from an old installation of the game. The problem is, Windows doesn't remove registry entries once they're in there. It may update some settings in those registry keys at a later point when a game is uninstalled / re-installed. But, that doesn't guarantee it'll be correct. Now, with the EA client replacing Origin... it has a whole new directory structure and this is most likely what is leading to these path issues in the Registry. What maybe needed is to uninstall the game and then use a Registry cleaner tool... something like the free version of CCleaner for example. There are some decent freebie options out there. Just be sure you go through their settings and disable all the adware crapware that may come with them. Anyway, use it to clear all registry keys from the SWJ:FO game after you've gone through your system and deleted ALL the folders that get left on your PC for the game. Restart PC, load clients, and install the game again. You should set the path for the game install (in EA client) to same as the steam install folder--default= C:\Program Files(x86) \Steam\Steamapps\Common\SWJ:FO
Test out game. Also, be sure you've set aside your game save first.

Holly crap batman, Thank you so much, This was indeed the problem. I had a lot of registry issues according to CCleaner. I ran it multiple times and restarted my system after each run, when it come with zero issues(most where windows update left overs and random duplicates dll's It finally works:er_heart::steamthumbsup::steamthis::Yonah:.
But I have one question, And please excuse my ignorance. But why would manually searching and deleting the registry files not work for me, but using the clean did. Does not the cleaner tool do the same thing only easier to use?. Any way, again thank you.

Hi, when I follow the route in regedit, the "Respawn" folder does not appear. I have to create it?
