Not Launching Through Steam
This is infuriating. I've tried everything but because Origin was swapped out for the EA app, I can't actually launch the game through steam. I know I can launch it through the SWGame-Win64- Shipping application, but that means that achievements won't work and I was trying to finish those off. Is there a different way around this?

I had a problem similar to yours. I went ahead and verified game files and it fixed the problem.

I'm not sure if this will work, but I had a similar problem. Couldn't launch it the regular way, and no achievements when using the launcher fix.
I noticed when looking at my EA app games library that it hadn't registered JFS as a Steam game, but instead it was registered in my main library and as not installed.
Then I installed the game from the EA app in the same directory as my Steam version already was.
And now I can launch the game in the regular way with achievements working.

Yeah, it's doing something very suspicious....

I pre-loaded 2 days ago - it took 3 hours - and now Steam just keeps wanting to Update (over and over and over) and although I've "pre-loaded" now it's saying it needs to "unpack" - and that that process is going to take another 3 hours...no, wait - *5* hours....no - 10 HOURS - oh...not 10 hours - 36 HOURS - nope - now it's going to take 3 DAYS. NO - 7 WEEKS - oh look, now Steam is telling me it's going to take OVER A YEAR to upload the game I PRE-LOADED 2 DAYS AGO and pre-ordered LAST YEAR.....

Get your ♥♥♥♥ together, Steam

This fixed the problem for me. Thank you! Not sure if it was the same case for others but I owned JFO on Origin before I got it on Steam. Now that I "installed" it on ea play to the same directory as my steam install it works!

In my case, moving the Fallen Order install directory (via Steam) to the system drive, where the EA App also resides on, solved it...

The Origin client did a much better job at locating the Steam installation. Not sure why the EA client developers didn't get their new client to work as good as the Origin client to begin with. It's like... hey, if you're going to make a new client, it should be AT LEAST just as good as the old one and maybe even adding in some new bells n whistles. But, sadly... nope. It's a piece of garbage.

I had the same issue but I found if you uninstall EA app then launch the game in steam to reinstall the app work for me. but a warning uninstalling the app makes you do a full system restart.

This worked for me in 2025!!! I spent days researching how to fix this!!! Thank youuu!!! also all my achievements work now! The game works as intended!!! You should make a guide or something since I saw a lot of people never managed to properly fix it. It would help many people that were in the same boat as I was days ago. I bought this game during the holiday sales on 2024 winter. I had it on EA play already before that but my Steam version was bugged with the EA launcher and stuck on preparing, etc. Only way to run it was via the shipping exe command or direct folder method. But your method fixed all the issues. Now it works fine on Steam. NOT ONLY THAT BUT IT ALSO UNLOCKED ME THE BONUS CONTENT!!! I just checked on my main menu. I bought the game Deluxe Edition on Steam just for the art-book so now I have it! Days ago via the shipping launcher it seemed to just launch the original non-deluxe version booo. Thank youuuuuuuuuuu for sharing the fix!!!!!

PS: Please make a guide if you can or have the time, it will help so many people out there. Thank you for what you do!
I ended up starting the ea app manually. It said I have to restart app to update so I did and now all ea games work. Because the horrible f'ing program won't update when it runs in the background. Even worse than Ubisoft.

Could you explain how you did this? I'm having the same issue but when I go to my EA app, I don't get the option to install the game. It just says to manage on Steam. On Steam I have 0 achievements but on the EA app it says I have multiple achievements. I tried the trick where you set the launch options to run the second exe in your steam folder and while it does launch the game, achievements don't pop up even after loading my completed save and playing for a couple of minutes.
