You can turn on infinite health/block/force in the arena mode to learn an enemy's timing.
For Inquisitor Cal, it's best to use single-blade style.
When he runs at you to do a sprint attack, you can precision dodge and counter-kick and follow up with one attack.
When he dashes, you can precision dodge as he's swinging at you, then counter with a kick and one attack. (You can also throw your lightsaber as he's dashing, but the timing is trickier since there's no real tell for when he'll dash forward apart from being at a distance)
When he does the ground slam, roll-dodge backwards and throw your lightsaber.
When he's doing the double-blade saber combo, throw your lightsaber and keep dodging backwards (if you can caught in the early stages of it, it is possible to dodge out of it).
When he does the overhead swing, you can dodge/kick or throw your lightsaber.
At lower health, he'll add the followup, which means you can't attack after the first kick, but you can dodge and kick/attack again.
When he does the basic 3-swing combo, dodge backwards and throw your lightsaber.
When he does the split-saber attack, dodge backwards and throw your lightsaber
If he slows you, dodge backwards immediately. (He doesn't always follow up on it with a dash attack)
If he throws his lightsaber, you only need to press the dodge button once to negate it completely and avoid damage.
Sometimes he'll dodge-roll forward, which can be dodged/kick-countered
Sometimes he'll dodge and attempt to kick you, which can be either dodged or blocked with your lightsaber.
Try to keep to the center of the arena and let him come to you, and dodge/punish his moves accordingly.
You can attack him and when he counters (with a very obvious audio cue) he'll do a few different attacks; the unblockable forward thrust can be dodged/kick-countered, the split-saber attack can be dodge-rolled and countered with a lightsaber throw, even though it'll look like you get hit by his saber, and if he tries to kick you, it can be countered as above.
Just play around with him with the arena settings on, and you'll master him in no time.
Start with being able to beat him reliably without worrying about not healing or taking no damage, then go for the challenge runs at your own pace.
