Save file corrupted
EDIT

Ne-zu-ko-chan posted a link in this threat to a website with saves for various game stages.

So PC crashed, I wasn't in meditation state, where I presume the game saves the data and now when I try to load the game I get the message:

Save file has been corrupted. No backup save was found. Please start a new journey.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1914809608

Besides the non transparent save system, how in the world do I make a backup save?

Found the local backup location (are there not any cloud saves, as the game prompted me that there are no cloud save and if I wish to transfer my local save):

C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\Respawn\JediFallenOrder\

There is a backup save in the folder that is not working? *sigh*

I hope I can find a backup save in filehistory.

The backup file is also corrupted. I restored the file from file history. It's interesting to see, that both the save game and the backup file are written at the same moment, so corrupting one file will most certainly corrupt the other one too.

So u cant fix this? Happened to me too :(
Lonearrow Nov 17, 2019 @ 2:48am
same just happened to me.....would be nice if anyone could post some saved data so we dont have to begin from 0. I just entered Miktrull and on that save point I got a blue screen

@lonearrow

You still need the save? I'm just in front of Miktrull. Sent you a friend invite.

Curious to know if Save files are transferable from one user to another. A lot aren't..

Quite possible, maybe contains account name etc. pp. Idk. Thats why I didn't share it publicly.

Found myself with the same issue - gone 3 full days of playing the game :(

Anyone found a fix to this yet?

The game has cloud saving with Origin. It should be saving a local copy and to the cloud but either that's not working or the game isn't setup to read cloud saves from Origin, both of which are dumb and make the cloud save crap irrelevant.

If anyone can figure out how to get the Origin cloud saves that'd be a lifesaver...unless those are corrupted too

Same problem here. Twice in two days. I am done buying products from EA

so, i played for solid 5 hours yesterday, came home from work today and want to continue the game, but apparently it didn't save my progress, as my only option on the main screen is beginning a new journey.

If its saving then it should be reading. The two are coupled in any form of reality I've ever seen =)

Some notes that will help you understand:

Tested Origin only game with Origin cloud saves. Remove game save files locally and Origin cloud down syncs the cloud files on game start.

If you're playing Fallen Order from Steam supposedly there are no cloud saves that way or at least the store page doesn't list cloud saves. I'm sure that they can implement either but perhaps that isn't actually working on release. So you will probably not have anything that way. You can wait to see if they implement Origin cloud saves into Steam or try to play from Origin to get the cloud saves that way assuming they are good ones.

I've had the game crash a few times and on start up again Origin sometimes asked me which save file to use, either local copy or cloud save because the local would be a newer version than cloud save. This happened 2 or 3 times. Then last time the game crashed it didn't ask anything...

This is all from starting the Steam version, so it is there in some form, but I don't know the point since I had to start a new game anyway

asked me for that too, i figure somehow my local save was empty and the game synced it with the cloud and overwrote my progress. :/

Had the same problem right now and happened upon the solution by luck.
Open Origin -> select game (don't start it) -> open game settings -> in the third tab there should be an option to bring back your latest local save file.
When you do that the next time you start the game you should have your saves back.

data not backed up is data lossed.

My save file got corrupted as well today, so if you have a save file from roughly when Cal gets captured by a bounty hunter on Zeffo and loses BD 1 and his lightsaber. I'd really appreciate a save file from you. Thanks in advance.
