Tutorial: completely disable motion blur (including characters)
Some of you may have noticed that disabling motion blur in the settings doesn't disable the blur that applies to character models. You can disable the rest by doing the following. Disclaimer: some weird stuff might happen.

First you have to download the UE4 console unlocker: https://framedsc.github.io/GeneralGuides/universal_ue4_consoleunlocker.htm

Run the game, run this, select the game process from the list, and it will inject the console into your game.

In game, type "~" to open the console. Then, type "Enablecheats 1". This will allow commands to be entered.

The command you want to enter is "r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur 0"

This will eliminate not only the global blur when panning the camera, but also the blur on character models, Cal and NPCs included.

Edit

Helps with lightsaber artifacting too. And alternatively, r.MotionBlur.Max .5 will keep some blurring (like when you freeze people) without the jarring blurring in normal motion of yourself and npcs.

Thanks for this, completely solves the problem!

Nice! "Motion blur is for babies". (quote from another game; if you are one that happens to like Motion Blur, then that's great.)

It, and depth of field, need to disappear. Same for lens flares. They have no business in my games.
Thankyou for this. They really need to patch the game to make the motion blur option actually turn it all off. Failing that, i hope someone comes up with a way to have this setting without going into the console each game.

FYI this also does away with the strange artifacting that surrounds your lightsaber when it is being blurred over certain objects behind it. However, the downside is that it makes things frozen by your force power not look right. My solution to all of these was to set r.MotionBlur.Max to .5 instead, which leaves enough blur on enemies / objects without being jarring in normal motion, as well as radically diminishing the aforementioned artifacting.

Now if someone can help me figure out how to use Cheat Engine to speed up these blaster shots, I'd be grateful ;)

Also, for other effects you could try going though this to find a command that will work for you:

I don't have that "~" key in my spanish keyboard. And no other key seems to bring up the console... is there any way to customize that key?

What is to the left of the 1 key on the top row of keys on your keyboard?

Maybe try holding down Shift and pressing that key with it..

Oh, I found this answer in the Fallout 4 forum using a search..

None of those work. Maybe it is because I am using Reshade ?

It doesnt work for me either. The disable hud function works but i cannot open the console. Anyone else?
MODAFINIL Nov 19, 2019 @ 3:55am
Fixed it! Make sure to run the game and IGCSInjectorUI.exe as administrator.
EDIT: I just found out that you can't open the console if your keyboard layout in windows isn't set to english. I tried opening the console having my standard german settings and it didn't work. So be sure to download the english keyboard layout and set it to ENG in your taskbar! https://i.imgur.com/LROebaO.png

the downside of this method is that you gotta repeat the process every time you open the game.
so apparently it doesnt save what you did before.

Isnt there a way to input these commands into a config file instead? So you dont have to do this process at ever game launch?

yes

{LINK REMOVED}

haven't tried it, but there are several posts on it here^

Do that persist, or I must do it every time I play game?
