FPS drops and stutter fix
For those having the same issue try enabling vsync, that fixed all the problems for me

I was having drops to 20 30 fps and now the game runs butter smooth and fps are locked at my refresh rate, also my case is not overheating anymore. The difference is unbelivable, the game is much much better now...

System:
i5 4690k
16gb Ram
Gtx 1070
1080p 75hz

this game has nothing but frame drops everywhere, even on medium settings with a 1080ti

I can't take the stutters anymore. I got to Kashyyyk, and I can't take it anymore. Won't be playing until I pick it up on PS4.

Sorry to say, but the PS4 (pro) version has the same issues. I'm waiting for a patch. I give it a week, if nothing I will sell it.

What you are experiencing is called a CPU bottleneck the game only uses 4 cores when those four cores get slammed the game will stutter. Try capping your frame rate at 60 or lower depending on how slow your cores are.

This game was only really optimized for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One at 30 frames per second... another poor console port

I've changed my settings all the way down to Medium and I still get significant FPS stutters. Game certainly has issues, just read through various forums.

Maybe youre visiting bad sites and getting STDS... I mean Virus' or spyware.

I have a very modest 1060 3gb and I dont have any crazy frame drops worth mentioning.

Maybe lower your settings or resolution, that might help... If not, clean your pc.

Dude all PC's are different even ones with the same "build". Background apps can affect performance, malware, spyware, virus' can affect performance. Believe it or not cleaning the dust off of your GPU and keeping a clean case can help performance. Having a near full SSD or HD can affect performance too. There are many variables to having a good gaming experience.

The people that are having these crazy framerate issues are because theyre trying to run the game on too high of settings/resolution or they have issues with their PC.

There is micro stuttering when the game loads assets at certain parts but thats and some dips here and there but nothing game breaking or overly obnoxious..

Are you trying to justify the optimization? The game has serious problems. And on the console too. They need to be fixed.

I have no problems, the game is buttery smooth.
CPU: Intel 8700k
GeForce RTX 2080
32 gb RAM

Same here bro... i got to that planet and faced the black trooper with double sided polearm and literally rage quit because of how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it was performing.. i'm done for now until it gets better.

That would defeat the purpose of having a high refresh rate Gsync monitor. While this probably would function as a workaround, I rather (and hope) they fix this game properly.

Only the first planet is giving me trouble around the ship area. I also have a 1080Ti. It is not really that bad, unless I'm thinking about it and looking at RTSS. Mine drops to 60-ish. Normally it runs about 100+ While it doesn't sound like much of a problem, the game does freeze for a fraction of a second when it does this.

I was having the same issue and searched high and low. I personally noticed that the issue was less pronounced, when I ran the game with a higher frame-lock. I'd usually not do that, since all of my monitors are 60hz only.

Anyway, here is my theory and sort of working solution (Intel i7 2600k @4.5ghz + RTX 2060; game on SSD):
I believe the gamecode is somehow synced to the fps. The lower the fps, the longer the CPU takes to load in the new assets. Running the game at a higher framerate cap therefore significantly shortens the loading lag. Mind you, I still have some lags now and then, but I guess that might also be because I'm running an 11 year old CPU. Either way, just disabling VSync is probably not a good solution; I found what works best is:

In-Game:
Fullscreen
Framerate 144
Vsync Off
Dynamic Scaling Off
Rest on Epic

Nvidia Control Panel:
Low Latency - ULTRA (not sure if this does anything)
Power Mgnmt - Prefer max Perf.
Vsync - FAST

If you set it up right, the game should basically run like without Vsync but also without tearing. Framepacing is not as smooth as with locked 60, but since the pacing is ruined by the terrible hitches this definitely is more fun. Hope it works for you guys aswell!

When you don't set a limit for the FPS, this game tends to use 100% on all CPU cores. I think the problem is that when using all the CPU, there is no headroom left when it needs to load new assets.

I managed to make the stuttering better (but not eliminate it) by:

1. In the nvida control panel, set the vsync mode to "Fast". Not sure if AMD has a similar setting, vsync off will probably have the same effect (but with some tearing).
2. In game, limit the FPS to 60.

This has my CPU sitting around 70% and makes th stutter problem a lot better. If 60 fps isn't worker for you, try a lower number (but with the obvious consquences).
