PS4 Controller Prompts (square, circle, etc.)
Has anybody figured out how to play the game with Playstation controller prompts (square, circle, etc.) when using a PS4 controller?

I can only play with Xbox controller prompts (A, B, etc.) for some reason. When I enter the game's controller settings, I can only see the button mapping for an Xbox controller as well.

Nevermind, I got it to work. All you really have to to do is turn off Playstation controller support in steam and make sure controller is set to "DualShock 4" and NOT "Xbox 360" in DS4Windows.

Assuming you are using your controller via bluetooth, here's what I do for UE4 games:

1. Right click the game in your Steam library and select Properties
2. Under 'Steam Input Per Game Setting' set it to Forced Off
3. Download and install DS4Windows[github.com] This is a continually updated version
4. Once you have your controller connected and working make a default profile
5. Go to Controls on the left, then Other on the right.
6. Make sure Use 'Dinput Only' is unchecked
7. Under controller select DualShock 4
8. In Settings make sure Hide DS4 controller box is unchecked

Of course make sure no other controller is turned on. The game should now use the DS4 buttons. I use this in Code Vein and it works here too, so I'm assuming all games that use UE4 will work this way.

With Steam's PS4 controller support, DS4Windows, or InputMapper, the game shows only XBOX button prompts. If I disable all that and connect the DS4 controller via bluetooth the game doesn't recognise the controller.

The only way it works for me is by connecting the DS4 controller via USB cable - that way the controller works in the game and Playstation button prompts are shown.

It's not ideal, but it works!

THANK YOU kind stranger. I tried everything and this finally woks for me too. Kinda stupid but I'm soooo happy to have PlayStation promps on my PC. We should be able to force the game to show the UI we want in the settings.

Anyway thanks

So there's games out there that, despite steam input being enabled for ps4 controllers, still detect that a PS4 controller is being used. This not only means automatically displaying the right prompts, but also means I can customize my inputs through steam. Usually, this allows me to easily take screenshots for steam via the PS4 controller's share button, which is usually relegated to a select button. Or, in the case of this game, does absolutely nothing. I understand that Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is not one of those games, but it seems when games do this, it's sheer lack of caring about small details that make the experience in a game better on PC. The API definitely exists, and it's a shame more companies don't use it. I guess it's nice they at least put in PS4 controller support. Plenty of games just don't see it, or assume that, despite having ps4 ports, won't have the files for ps4 controller prompts, and thus modders take the range. Then there's the most atrocious example of Left Alive, which has PS4 prompts, but the PS4 prompts, and ONLY the PS4 prompts, are outright WRONG lmao. Like, they tell you the wrong input.
