You will do lots of back tracking and running all over the map. Some areas force you to take alternative back paths as the way you came in is one sided. Like jumping down from a super high cliff.
Right... It's not an RPG, so it can't possibly be mechanically similar to another game it practically took all the basic mechanics from.

It's nothing new in that regard.
Think of it like levels in Dark Souls or Sekiro with Tomb-Raider / Uncharted Bits thrown in. You have platforming and combat throughout each world.
