Can't Swim Downwards, and there is a crate underwater.

I am on Zeffo, at the crash site. There is an area in which you can swim and I can see a crate below that we should be able to get, but no matter how much I press, or depress the left mouse button, which is supposed to make you swim downwards, nothing happens. Cal keeps swimming on the surface. I am using my pc for the game. I checked on settings and the left mouse button is supposed to allow me to swim downwards, but it doesn't.
Has anyone been able to solve this?

the default keys to swim up and down are left and right mousebuttons but have a look into the key binding menu and scroll town till the navigation section. there u will find out how to swim down...

Yeah, same issue here. Playing with a controller and can't get it to work either, though it seems like that is the only location that has something under the water? Almost seems like they meant to remove diving from the game and kind of did, sans that one box and the key binding options in the menu.

i see. Well, the x button is for if you are playing ps4, but for pc it Is the left mouse button. Didn't know I had to get diving gear. Thanks for the tip.

You cant swim downwards until you unlocked it and found swimming gear.

Kashyyyk after meeting Chieftain in Shadowlands. You will get a rebreather to dive. So it's story locked.

It's a bit stupid having things in the game that players can see but can't do, especially when they will have seen a keybinding or controller button for doing exactly that. This could have been better just by including an on-screen prompt that says "You can't swim underwater yet" or have Cal say in-character "I'm not that good at holding my breath" if you press the "swim down" key/button ingame and don't have the story item yet.. That way players will know it's not a bug and know that they need to get some gear later in the game.

The one on Zeffo near the Venator, It's really close to the surface, even an average (real-world) swimmer would be able to hold their breath for long enough to open it up.

you get the gear later. usually if it's impossible to currently get in the game, you'll be coming back later with gear that can help.

I assume you know by now, but you get a rebreather eventually and can then swim underwater.

swimming underwater is a skill that unlocks through progression of story
