Most people won't agree with you, neither do the developers. It is designed for controller. There's not really any arguing it. Especially when all I've said is there's a sensitivity difference and agreed with you largely.

It is playable with a keyboard and mouse but you're deliberately penalizing yourself doing so.
It all depends on what a person is more used to. I've played Dark Souls 3 on my gf's ps4 at her place with a controller and do just fine. But for me, it's more natural using my cherry mx red keyboard with a 1ms polling rate on PC.

My years with keyboard and mouse controls far outweigh my skills with a controller.

BS alert.

It doesn't matter what the developers recommend. It also doesn't matter what you're used to. It's both completely irrelevant.

In these kind of games, where you aim weapons and turn your character around alot, a controller will never be as precise or quick as a mouse. It's simple physics. A professional controller user will never, I repeat: NEVER be as good as a professional mouse player.

And all you people who claim otherwise are simply misinformed. Period.

I remapped a few keys to make it more similar to Sekiro's control scheme. Whoever decided to make Z dodge is an animal.

Keyboard and mouse are the way to play this game, I'm sure it's fine with a controller. Whichever type you are more comfortable with to enjoy the game is what you should go with. Since it's a single-player game the ability to swing your camera very quickly with a high dpi mouse isn't a requirement like it is for say Overwatch or Battlefield. Especially as you are a melee player there is no long range targeting required like when playing a sniper, which is usually easier with a finer movement from the mouse. For me I prefer a keyboard/mouse for this style of game, with my mmo corsair mouse that has a num pad on the side it means I can split up responsibilities to use keyboard for movement and the mouse for looking/abilities.

I've been doing just fine with keyboard and mouse. Absolutely love it. I just remapped the dodge/roll to v and everything else is perfect the way they set it up.

Hey, buddy. I don't know if you have a mouse with extra thumb buttons but I suggest you map your dodge/roll to a mouse button in any game you play.

Why? This way you can use your left hand to control the direction while your right hand actually presses the dodge button (usually your thumb because of mouse thumb buttons).

It's pretty hard to control direction AND press roll on just your left hand.

Well I know that a person with a keyboard/mouse are most likely going to have better aim in a game if they have enough experience. However, that's not to say that there aren't pc gamers out there who exclusively use controllers and would have a difficult time adjusting if they were to try out mouse and keyboard.

Personally for me, I love mouse and keyboard and don't miss controllers at all.

A little rebinding and you're good.

it feels good, if you are use to keybord and mouse you wont have any trubble...
think of it as tombraider with lightsabers

It feels awful. I played it mostly with kb/m. But I had to remap a lot of keys to make it usable. After doing do, the map would freak out because keys weren't on default, making it basically impossible to search the map, something you have to do a lot if you want to collect everything.

Default key bindings are unusable. There is no excuse for them, the Z mapping for evade is insane. Either the team never tested with k+m or never listened to any feedback from testers. Evading left is practically impossible with Z and evading anything else difficult. I remapped Z to mouse 4. Focus is something I am not used to on a PC, it only seems to appear in console ports and rarely seems useful on PC. Almost finished the game on Master level but probably should have remapped mouse 2 to something. The old Jedi Knight games were great with 4 and 5 for push and pull.

I need advice please. I'm using a laptop keyboard and bought a 7 button gaming mouse, because I won't be using a controller, and apparently a mouse was needed to TARGET LOCK/SWITCH TARGET. So I got a mouse and now target locks work. FYI, it's a gaming mouse and has a central wheel, 2 small buttons behind it, 2 small buttons on the left side, and the main L and R clicker areas. I haven't used a mouse or desktop in decades. It's always been laptop PC.

I'm used to WASD and never needed a mouse before in SWTOR, etc.

BUT...
I am stuck at the EVADE (same as 'dodge'?), action where the dark sister is lunging at my hero. nothing on my new 7 button mouse works, and the 'Z' key on my keyboard is assigned for BLOCK/PARRY. I don't see an in game key-binding listings for EVADE, nor for ROLL, PUSH, PULL, FORCE ATTACK, HEAL, etc that are labeled on the ingame X-BOX diagram. Did I buy the wrong version from STEAM or something?

ALSO...if I bought the wrong gaming mouse/needed to assign the mouse buttons ('mapping'?), my laptop isn't accepting the WINDOWS download (64-bit confirmed) for key and mouse assigning. But in any case, if the in game listing of control keys doesn't include EVADE and the rest of the missing actions, what...how is it that everyone is apparently satisfied with mouse and keyboard?

How do I get 'Z' key to work as EVADE if it's not listed for binding to begin with? I'm using Z for BLOCK/PARRY and EVADE isn't even an option (far as I can find).

Thanks for any help ~

First off, no, you did not buy the wrong anything. You can play with controller or mouse and keyboard if you like.

Your mouse should have software that you can install or download from the manufacturer's website. This software will help you bind your mouse keys (this is sometimes called key mapping or key binding/rebinding). This is important because some games do not recognize extra mouse buttons so you would need to, for example, bind EVADE to A in the game and then bind one of your mouse buttons to A in the mouse software.

Now that's just an example, you don't have to use A. You can make it any key on your keyboard and some games, like SWTOR, even allow a combination of keys such as shift+A. Your mouse software should allow that as well.

As for Jedi Fallen Order, I am looking at the keybind menu right now and Evade is two settings right under Parry / Block. From the main menu, click on Options > Controls. You will see an XBOX controller but under that is Edit Controls. Click on that and you will find all the actions that you can rebind. Make sure to scroll down to see all of the actions.

Suggestion: If you are using WASD for movement, I advise that you set Parry / Block to one of your mouse thumb buttons. You won't have to take your fingers off of any movement keys in order to block (you'll be able to both move and block at the same time).

Side Note: I can't believe you played SWTOR without a mouse. That is insane!

Hi, duEprocEss,
thanks for the great response It's very helpful. Yeah, in SWTOR, WSAD and key-binding was enough as long as the latency was really good. Even so, as a Consular Sage Healer in raids, it was always a challenge keeping everyone alive!

After I wrote my post last time, I went back and reset all the key controls to 'default'. Amazingly enough, I could EVADE past the dark sister, roll around and all the rest, with the external mouse attached. So, it all worked out well and I'm really enjoying the game. So guilds, no dailies, no drama - I luv it. Cheers!

Happy Holidays
