Chromatic Aberration
The heck is this and why is this the most demanding setting in the game for me?
It dips to 53-55 FPS when I have this thing on and stays a stable 60 when I turn this thing off (everything else is on max).

What the hell is this? As in what is this setting and what visual impact does it have? I can't see any visual difference :bbtcat:

I agree that it is usually an overused, annoying, and useless effect that I usually try to turn off... but unfortunately some games use it to give you information (like I think in Destiny 2 it was used to show when you were getting hit/low life, and if you turned it off you wouldn't know)

No clue yet how it functions in this game.

Yeah, these are good examples. Basically it's a visual effect where the colors can't be focused into the same focal plane, so they appear as separate images oddly layered over top of each other. As seen in those screenshots, the effect can be rather harsh on the eyes. I too disable it in every game that has the setting.

Edit: it is not related in any way to reflections, shaders, or bump mapping, so it doesn't have anything to do with rocks looking shiny or wet..

It's stupid. Just disable it in everything that has it. Quite frankly looks disgusting.
