WTF? I Can't Beat a Toad
I'm early in the game, finally got a chance to explore off the beaten path and I can't beat a giant toad with a lightsaber? I must be missing something, why is this Oggdo Bogdo so difficult? I can barely tell what attacks or moves I'm suppose to do before this thing 2 hit kills me. I get that I can probably abandon ship and come back later but why... It's a frog and I have a lightsaber, I want to kill it now!

Dodge, use slow to put more hits in safer.
Unlike most Star Wars games, this one isn't designed to be a power fantasy. This is Dark Souls with a Star Wars skin and more forgiving death system.

My recommendation? Crank the difficulty up and approach every single enemy you encounter as a new boss fight. It's a blast, and exactly the kind of game Star Wars needed.

Using slow seems to make me slow as well, it's like I get stuck in slow motion right in front of his mouth before he easily lands another blow

all you need is dodge and charge strike in this game, that thing for some reason deals 10x dmg than anything else and has more range than 5 nanometers.

slow is useless offensively, it stops working after you strike opponent, its for mass slow to pick individual targets or for healing, in short its crap.

As far as I understand, you should have a hard time on this guy. You are in the early stages of the game, it is a named mob (other frogs are not so hard) and as already mentioned, this game is going the "dark souls" route...even though a lot easier imho.

If you want a canon explanation, dunno, he had to suppress his powers for some time to hide from the empire, so he needs to get used to them again.

You can totally kill that enemy right away if you want to. The real trick is to use Jedi slow, but also dodge its attacks. It telegraphs its moves very clearly, including its red unblockable lunge. If you're trying to button mash, you won't win. Get it one or two hits and dodge away, rinse and repeat. You can do it!

Also to start the fight run around him go into the little cave behind him so you can get above and do a drop attack to start the fight. That will take about half it's health to start.

That was tough but success at last! I had to explore, upgrade and learn the ways of the force before finally defeating this boss. Needed to fight way more aggressive than I like.

I've progressed made it to a few planets encountered various enemies but I may have to tap out, this game is too tough for my pedestrian abilities. I've read the Dark Souls comparisons, if that's so, I'm only reminded why I avoid those types of games. Dying repeatedly wouldn't be so bad if the load times were faster, in a game like Ori, also challenging, repeated fails were tolerable due to an instant return to action. Sometimes it takes over a minute before this game reloads.

The loadtime is brutal. But if you're at the point of quitting because of dying/respawning too much then just lower the difficulty (unless you're already on easy in which case yeah go ahead and quit).
I am with you on this about the dumb ass toad, I have played souls likes and elden ring, typically your character has a strong, consistent, and very quick starting sword. The movement is consistent, and your character is not somehow getting clipped just barely by the fat frog by a nanometer of a stray pixel even in the middle of the dodge roll. I admit this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ glitchy as ♥♥♥♥ from what I have played, fun, but my character got his foot clipped in the floor at one point during the fight, and was stuck till I rolled, just to get tagged through a wall by the tongue attack, pulled against the wall, and take the full damage. The slow honestly is not as usefull on Jedi master for this guy, mainly cause his hit box is out even during the windup of his attack, meaning you will still take ♥♥♥♥ tons of damage from an attack that likely looks like it isn't even active on. You have to pretty much be the parry king, against this guy, and hope the thing does not just one shot you from a stray attack. Also some of the other glitches I ran into (platforming on pipes, leaping to the other pipe, fall ontop of the pipe, just to clip THROUGH the pipe, and either grab it from underneath, or fall to my death. Or for the jump to come up super short randomly (I am playing on m and keyboard) even though I do hold the space key, then there is me having to sometimes hold the force key, or mash the ♥♥♥♥ out of it for it to come out. The guy has a strange oddity on when it does or does not want it to be instant.
And this one is just a design quirk, the way cal swings his saber is so floppy at times, I literally have him flailing right infront of the frog, clipping the model, only for the third hit to finally register. Then to get hit once, and die, time to wait a while to reload. ♥♥♥♥ me I guess.

This mini-boss took about 10 tries for me.
Nothing else in the entire game killed me more than once on the 2nd hardest difficulty.

If you go a little further in the story, you will get some tools that make it much much easier, but if you go straight into him, you will probably die. The Charge he does has too slow a tell, and if you don't immediately slow and run away, it will hit you for 1/2 to 100% of your HP depending on your difficulty setting.

It is, By FAR the hardest fight in this game, because you have so many more tools to deal with future encounters, The Lackluster dodge will get hit by his huge damage charge most of the time, unless you were lucky and away when it started, or you time the slow to dodge it.
