is the gameplay really comparable to dark souls
i've always heard this statement
but is it really like dark souls in a good way or just an unbalanced difficult game?

Kinda? If you played DS and FO back to back you'll see similarities but I really think DS is the more refined and polished product. This game feels more clunky in my opinion. The boss battles are generally okay, but I think the AI need to be reworked so that bosses dont spam the same attack over and over again which can sometimes happen. I also take issue that the enemies dont play by the same rules you do - it feels genuinely stacked against you compared to DS in the sense that your enemies can interrupt you easily but the same is not true for you even if you're fighting a humanoid enemy that is of a comparable size.

I would say the souls games are actually easier but only because of how refined and polished their combat is compared to Fallen Order.

It's Darksiders 3 with a different coat of paint and the Tome Raider 2013 QTE movement code bolted on.

It is similar to Dark Souls in that it's a finished piece of artwork masquerading as a video game. You're supposed to treat every enemy as a mini boss fight and ignore the utter lack of anything to do in the world itself. Difficulty levels center around doing increasing amounts of damage to the player with no other changes, and all forms of healing is punished. You'll spend most of your time waiting for animations to finish and cutscenes to end.

Good news: they aren't stingy with save points. But that's about it.

This would've been an instant refund if I had bought it on Steam. Currently suffering through the unskippable cutscenes on Easy mode to get over buyer's remorse.

Parrying is easier than Souls. But I compare this game more to God of War than Souls.

Similiar in the combat and checkpoint system.
Much easier and has difficulty settings to lower it even further.

Less customization than the souls games. You unlock 90% of the skills anyways by playing normally. The reason i mention this is because build creation is a big thing in the souls games where JFO doesn't really have that.

Well, you got your meditation spots (= bonfires), your stim shots (= Estus flask), and if you use the save spots to rest, all previously defeated enemies are resurrected. Also, you are not so much a near invincible Jedi as a kid with some cantrips and a swizzle stick who is easily beaten down by all but the most basic opponents, including rats. In that regard, yes, it's similar to Dark Souls, although here, it's surprisingly easy to cheese many tougher enemies (like the fearsome Purge Trooper who is oddly reluctant to walk through a certain door, allowing you to beat him down at the threshold).

Quite unlike Dark Souls, however, the time you spend with jumping and other puzzles far outweighs the combat engagements, which is a shame.

It's an arcade version of dark souls with lots of platforming and a few jumping puzzles, along with pushing and pulling puzzles as well. Casual players can actually make meaningful progress in this game and have fun unlike in Dark Souls.

Not really. Here's my take on similarities:
1) Difficulties on combat can be punishing, especially Grand Master Jedi which you get on your NG+.
2) Bonfires (meditation circles) are everywhere, and resting there will respawn enemies though you can still interact with them without triggering the respawn.
3) Bosses are not always up for you to go fight again. Spoiler: some of the boss or mini-boss rooms will spawn bounty hunter bosses when visited again.

Differences:
1) Every player has one class and only one. The only "build" is the order in which you select abilities, but otherwise everyone's gameplay has the same potential.
2) You preserve nothing of tactical value in NG+.
3) Unless I'm missing something huge, there is only one ending. Much as I'd like to murder the bug-eyed "flame-keeper" in JFO, I cannot.
4) Bosses just don't feel like bosses. They have the center red life bar but the fights just aren't "huge" like on DS.
5) No hidden bosses that I've found, apart from missable optional mini-bosses that don't seem to matter much apart from achievement hunting and completionism.

It's a pretty good game though, even if you aren't into SW so much. Some of the voice-overs for stormtroopers are incredibly stupid (he's dodging!), but the game itself is pretty well done and fun in short spurts. Once I finish my achievements I'm unlikely to return to it, which sets it well apart from DS3 for me since I've run that over and over.

One aspect in which J:FO fails miserably in comparison to DS:3 is its level design... they are clearly going for a similar vertical layout, but even with an in-game map, the game's environments are a pain to find your way through. By contrast, DS:3's levels are a work of near-genius (if not just plain genius)—while there's certainly plenty of secrets to discover (and possibly miss), I am always astonished by how intuitive they are to navigate. And that in the complete absence of any kind of in-game map!

This may not be directly related to gameplay, but it certainly goes a long way to explain why I gave up on J:FO after a paltry 29 hours while I racked up nearly ten times that much in DS:3.

Everyone always comparing it to Dark Souls but what about Sekiro? Its far more similar to Sekiro than any other of the fromsoft games even if it only came out months after Sekiro. Still i think Sekiro is a good comparison on how to do this type of combat right, as well as every other game mechanic in Fallen Order. I dont know maybe in Fallen Order 2 we could see shoulder mounted ultra-great lightsaber.

Having played through all 3? It is FAR easier than DS. People thinking this is comparable are the types of people to think Souls games are actually hard.

Not really. only the combat maybe. the game itself is a confusion. One moment it's God of War, next it's Tomb Raider and Uncharted, next up it's a bit like dark souls and all of sudden the game throws you in a Call of Duty mission with controlling a Walker and blasting your way in.

Oh I also forgot to mention sometimes I get Prince of Persia flashbacks playing this game
It’s basically Sekiro without the stealth, multiple deathblow, and resurrection mechanics with Uncharted and platforming sections thrown in, as well as some puzzles involving the force powers sprinkled in here and there.

God of war and dark souls had a retarded crack child

It's assassins creed without the hiding.

This game no where at all has the depth of a souls game in it.

Now creed? Yeah definitely.
