My controller wont connect, please help

Hey, my ps5 controller doesn't seem to work on here and I can't figure out why, I have never had problems with using a controller on pc before but now for some reason nothing even happens when I use it, tried closing and opening the game, tried restarting my pc, unplugging the controller, nothing works, any help?

not the exact case, but my PS4 controller didn't work initially. What i did was starting the Big Picture mode first. Controller settings in Big Picture mode were set to Playstation Controller Support and "Forced (On)". Then i started the game and it worked. After that it also worked in normal Steam mode. Maybe this helps.

origin is why. all the games claim they have controller compatibility, and then origin breaks it. running the game from big picture mode fixes it _sometimes_.
