Why does this game take so long to load post-death?
I'm in the first world of the game after the tutorial section and, it seems like every time I die in the game and press "Respawn", the game takes a long, LONG time to load the level again.

The first time I died, the game took a while to load so I just alt-F4'd and rebooted.

Second time I died, I decided to do a little test and see just how long it'd take to load. I waited for, possibly, 2 minutes to load before I spent another minute scrolling through YouTube for videos to time it, watched a 1 minute and 30 second YouTube video about One UI 2, then scrolled for 30 seconds before landing on a CarlSagan42 Mario Maker 2 video, then pulled out my Switch and started playing Puyo Puyo Tetris.
After 8 minutes of that video, my controller vibrated and I looked up at my monitor to see that the game had finally loaded.

This is the first area of the game. I'm scared at the idea that this could be the experience for the rest of my play through, and it's actually scary enough for me to consider not playing until I can resolve this issue. I don't think I should have to alt-F4 my game and reboot every time I die just to avoid a 10+ minute loading screen that shouldn't be there anyway.

Is this just me? Has this happened to anyone else?

Didn't happen to me. The post death loading wouldn't be more than 10 to 15 seconds. Not even using SSD.. just regular HDD.

Same.
FromSoftware usually give you either item descriptions, or have descriptions of abilities in the case of Sekiro, during the respawn screens. That way they seem shorter than they are.

I tend not to read them because games normally load so fast that by the time I'm half way, the game finishes loading :/

What's weird is that when I died in the tutorial world, respawning also took 5-10 seconds.

I booted up the game a second time to see if it was a one time thing. First time dying was a 4 minute loading screen, my second loading screen took so long my controller turned off and I was convinced I was actually in an infinite loading glitch.

What is happening? I'm thinking my PC might just not be powerful enough for this game .-.

I've had that problem, but only on Bogano and always from the meditation spot closest to the bogdo sinkholes. Everywhere else loaded pretty quick.

I've noted this as well. Only seems to happen to me on certain mini-bosses

Unfortunately I've tested ALL of these theories. At first it only persisted after mini-boss deaths. I.E The giant frog gater thing. Ooga booga whatever. After a few restarted my game would load after a few seconds (thank you SSD) but after a few deaths. It gets stuck back in an infinite load. Falling to death, killed by a trooper, spiders etc. No double monitor, so that trick won't work for me. Already did a verify of files. Nothing missing :/

Freaking sucks dude :/ I'm thinking of upgrading my PC hardware to hopefully resolve the issue. What's your specs?

Mine are a i5-4670k 3.40GHz, with 16gb of ram and a GTX 1080.

the game is optimized horridly so it is not you. Try putting the game on an SSD or a dedicated HDD. Close out external programs and set this game to highest priority. TURN OFF wallpaper engine. It causes a major drain too! OC GPU memory (+500MHz got it to stutter much less for me at the cost of a few rare but major artifacts.)

Hope this helps and wish you luck.

I am running an FX-8350 (4.33GHz OC), 32GB DDR3 at 2133MHz, Game is on a HDD at 7200RPM W/ the OS on a 2'5 inch SATA SSD, MSI GTX 1050TI with a modest OC using MSI afterburner's automated OC'ing. Game runs fairly stable for me now.

Yes i know my rig is a hack job. The price of building a computer for a record cheap price.
