Origin launcher
is there a way to get around using it? I clearly bought this on steam so why do I need to get the Origin launcher for it???

Guess I'll swallow my pride for disliking EA and just go with it.

Should've read the store page.

How the hell do you get the product code, through steam?

Once you launch the game, it'll ask to log in on origin (annoyingly, even if you already have it running and are logged in). I assume it'll want to install origin if it's not there already.

Literally the only thing holding me back from a purchase. I really don't want to support EA in any shape or form.

I the same, I just wanted it for the story and because I enjoyed the game when I played it once before. Once I've had my fun I'm uninstalling it and uninstalling origin (which is going to be one hell of a task) and moving on

You'd be supporting EA by buying this regardless of whether you need to use Origin or not. They're the publisher after all.

JFC how does nobody understand this yet.

This game DOES NOT LAUNCH FROM ORIGIN. When you launch this game from Steam it opens a separate version called "Origin Lite". The only thing it's doing is checking your CD-key. Origin lite does not enable the Origin overlay and it is not connected to their storefront. After it checks your CD-key it's doing nothing, it doesn't use any resources at all.

Why is it this way? Because it's so easy to spoof Steam credentials on pirated games. Getting around Origin DRM is essentially impossible. That's why EA did it this way. Which is why you constantly see threads started by people asking how to get around needing Origin and in most of those cases, the game isn't even in their Steam library, meaning they pirated it.
