I have both, but mostly play on M+K. I checked some posts and most said the M+K controls are fine, so I decided to try that. I am having no issues with it so far. I only needed to remap my dodge to my mouse thumb button and I was good to go.

It, IMO, comes down to what you like. The game was made with a controller in mind but plays fine with M+K.

I played keyboard and mouse. Also have a controller. As said it is down to your preference. To say one or the other is false. I mean if you know how to key map and customize your control buttons effectively then go keyboard and mouse for that custom game play experience. However if your not really into taking the time to set your keys for controls on keyboard and mouse then by all means use a controller (PS4 or XBOX again preference) to jump right into game play. That is the uniqueness of gaming on PC. I mean if you want examples check youtube. They have plenty of both K+M game play and controller. If you watch how they move isn't that much different other then camera turn speed (which lets face it mouse will always beat joy-stick in this category) but otherwise pretty much the same. PC stands for Personal Computer, meaning your system and there for your controls are up to what you are comfortable with. Now yes this game was designed with controllers in mind, however I think we all forget the all games are programmed on a computer first. So controls for console game to K+M isn't really that hard. The bigger question is can your game on PC run with a controller. As not all games on PC can use a controller as for example Diablo III which uses controller on console but is only keyboard and mouse on PC. As for me personally I find that a bit more annoying then anything. As stated before P in PC stands for Personal so all PC games should be able to use either K+M or controller. But that is another topic for another time. So yea don't listen to anyone about this topic. My recommendation is to play the tutorial first in K+M and if for any reason you are uncomfortable with how you started and feel that it is some how the controls. Switch to controller cause then controls with controller are easier to figure out but may limit your range or camera motion as a cost. Plus personal side note i figure why waste the money on a customized K+M if your not going to take advantage of it, but that is just me.
