So, Starkiller Base. <<small spoiler>>
On returning to Ilum after finishing that part of the game it seems that the planet is being turned into Starkiller base. Was that hinted at before in new lore? It makes sense (I kinda thought Starkiller base was one of the weaker parts of FA but still thought it was cool to see it in game, outside of Last Jedi I've actually enjoyed a lot of new Star Wars)

Pretty sure Ilum =/= Starkiller Base

Just like every sand planet =/= Tatooine even though it looks exactly the same.

You sure? When you return they've pretty much mined that huge middle part of Starkiller base and it looks like SKB. Maybe that's just what a planet in Star Wars looks like when it's mined and you're right.

This also takes place decades before the first order is a thing.

I looked on Wookipedia. Ilum is in an actual star system, starkiller base is a rogue planet in uncharted space

Looks like I'm not the only one that thinks it, could all be wrong of course, just glad I'm not going totally mad.

This one pretty much shows what you see when you return - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO2Wk27f0Cg

Ilum was stripped of all crystals to power the death star

Well, game pretty heavily suggest it. Doesn't actually say it so it definitely could just be nothing to do with it; maybe that's just what planets look like in SW when they are mined.

Even in a Galaxy far away it would take a long time to mine a whole planet. Illum and Star Killer base also list identical dimensions. Now nothing has been said if they are or are not the same planet. It seems like it's plausible; and it will probably be confirmed or denied in a sequel or a comic

Yeah I figured the same comic wise, I've enjoyed the Marvel comics recent runs and it's one of the things I like the most about the new SW stuff. It seems to be the place where they put a lot of stories that wouldn't really work in a film for a wider audience as well, things that are either a little weirder or general audience just wouldn't care about (such as Ilum being SKB).

They are.. but I'm kinda convinced now.. Did you see the "Easter egg" when you fly back to Ilum after finishing the game? It can't be coincidence.

I very much disagree with that theory.
If that actually turns out to be true at one point, I'll do like with most of the new Canon and simply ignore it...

First vid I posted doesn't seem to play on here (might need copy and pasting instead) so posting again but this is the part you're talking about, it's what pretty much made me think it was, at least a very strong hint.

I mean it literally looks like SKB without the laser which makes sense given the time period.

From what I've read about SKB, it was built on a planet once used by the Jedi and supposedly used to house a lot of kyber crystals. It also has the same dimensions as Ilum and even looking at them you can tell the extreme similarities between the two. I think it's highly possible they are the same planet.

kinda moot when it's said this planet go's around draining nearby Stars/Suns for it's energy..
