Cere is a terrible character (spoilers)
Are you telling me that this random woman was so powerful that she was able to bring Darth ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Vader to his knees? She also has such a Mary Sue backstory, so cliche. And what the hell is up with her bulging eyes? Looks like a basilisk from dark souls.

I think her eyes are bulging because that's how the mocap actress looks. And for bringing Vader to his knees? Many characters were able to momentarily stop him, just look at SW Rebels. It's just that nobody can defeat him outside of Palpatine and Luke in ROTJ. Starkiller doesn't really count because the whole game was built on the premise of him having BS unlimited power.

I thought she severed her connection to the force, how did she pull that off at the end?

That fast? Then Cal should have reconnected after the first mission.

She was a Jedi Knight, not a padawan and she was tapping into the dark side to be more powerful temporarily. Notice she got weaker when Cal told her not to use the Dark Side.

You're only calling her backstory Mary Sue, not even using the word correctly, and cliche because she brought Vader to his knees.

Cal only reconnected after having a memory of his days as a youngling training with his master and then using a meditation circle.

Cere was always meditating on the ship if you ever bothered to talk to her. Her last words after trying to talk to her about 3 times or when the talk button stops showing up usually would be able needing time to herself so she can meditate.

One thing you'll notice in American storytelling, is that all the important characters are omnipotent one moment, and impotent the next.

I reckon its the amalgamation of the American dream.

All in all, I wouldn't get hung up on this, just like I wouldn't take anything Warhammer: 40k seriously. It's all basically fluff meant to excite.

She didn't even overpower him. Cere using the Dark Side only took him by surprise and he brushed it off a second later. Not to mention Vader isn't at his strongest yet either.

And she's far from being a Ma-Rey Sue. She has flaws, made mistakes--hardly a Ma-Rey Sue by the actual definition.

"A female character who isn't useless? Must be a Mary Sue."

He would have had the same problem if it was a guy stop getting triggered lmao. I don't agree with his perspective either but the fact that it's a woman cpearly isn't his issue

While I don't like her character very much calling her a Mary Sue seems over kill at least at some point we know she was a Jedi Knight/Master and had padawans which makes it not only possible but very likly she could of at least held Vader in place using the dark side, Which is far more then we can say for the worse Mary Sue in Star Wars Ray Skywalker....

Cere is a terrible supporting cast character for Cal Kestis from a story telling perspective, but she as a lady turned out to be a nice person. Can’t just throw her out of the game story. At least Cal has more story going on with his own Teacher. I thought that everyone at least voiced their characters well. The acting was quite well. What’s worse, Cere, or the writers throwing a Witch onto the player’s team right near the end? The Nightsister Witch sends Malicos into the pit (basically to hell) alive, and Cal doesn’t even feel a bit sad for him. Come on, not everybody’s Cal Kestis has that kind of mean spirit. And Cal just suddenly trusts her. No thanks, and neither does Cere’s character (wise). And not even an attempt to talk to her about maybe giving up Witchcraft, which would basically be a form of Dark Side Force Powers to a Jedi. What’s the difference in letting Malicos be an ally and help, then, like he offered. And in either case it makes Cal look like he doesn’t care about the Good Jedi path, despite how much the game tries hard to make Cal Kestis out to know all the Jedi Training. Cal is a Bitter character, speaks straight forward most of the time, and never relaxes much except when he’s with Prauf and BD-1. And Praud was murdered. So it’s easy to see why our protagonist would be extremely cold, but not evil. The Nightsister jokes just weren’t even funny on the ship later. “I eat raw meat!”, and her Ritual to turn the ship invisible. Just killed the story by having Witch Magick. Next thing we know, there will be Ewoks and Wookiee Shaman casting healing spells in Star Wars, and the force won’t even be special anymore. :) so I believe this proves Cere is a terrible character, but one that hasn’t done any lasting damage to Star Wars or the Force. But bringing in characters that expand the universe to magick might have. Plus people seem to be forgetting how strict good Jedi are supposed to be. And Cal Kestis pretty much killed Malicos while standing up for all the Jedi Code and Tradition of the Order. And all those snobby Masters that supposedly brought the Order to destruction because of stinky tradition. It’d be hypocritical if Cal just runs off with a witch who has powers of hell. Oh well, at least this game isn’t first person or anything.
See the thing about merrin though is that she's really hot and that's why it's ok

I don't like her character development. She's a failed jedi, sever her connection with the force, but acting superior like Cal's master and "guiding" Cal. *SPOILER* in the end she even knights him, i mean who do you think you are?
