Positive: You're not stuck with some ugly ass saber, because of optimized stats.
Negative: Can't really think of anything. XD
And then there's this: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lightsaber_crystal
Initially in the EU color was mostly dependent on the individual choice of the focusing crystal, which resulted in very awesome and personal sabers. One of my favorites is still the oscillating rainbow blade that Tenel Ka made from the crystal taken from a family heirloom.
The idea that blade color defined your role in the order came much later. So initially the color of the blade had much less meaning in respect to the force or the role of a jedi, but was personally extremely significant.
Didn't Disney reintroduce the idea that the crystal colors itself according to the attunement of the individual to the force? I'm not really up to date with the new EU, but that at least seemed like an interesting idea. Good compromise between the other two concepts.
But yeah, they wasted a ton of perfectly good lore overall. Especially with their "we want to tell our own stories" and then just constantly ripping off the old lore.
Still. I liked the option to customize the lightsaber in this game to such a degree. I had a lot of fun simply trying out different combinations of parts and putting my own thoughts into what that specific combination might represent. Sadly the color customization came very late in the game. That should have been an option a lot earlier or at least be accessible from the beginning in subsequent playthroughs.
But just because it can be doesnt mean it should. Not all games need item changing stats. The whole basis for a video game is entertainment. If you need stats to be entertained well then you need to find those games.
Its a simple action game. There is one skill that makes your attacks stronger. Dont need anything more.
None of the JK series games had any stat changes. Just load up and start fighting. Simple, easy, fun.
Also, I almost certainly will buy what comes next. It's been a while since JK II, right ? :)
Glad to hear you are loving it!
Nothing like playing some games and the items you like the aesthetics of the most simply don't fit the mechanics your play style uses the most.
