Linking Origin to Steam - How ?
Hi

So if i want to buy Jedi Fallen Order on steam how exactly do i link my origin and steam accounts ?

Also will the game require activation on origin from my side ? Or like just any other steam game, after i buy it i don't have to do anything else ?

I suppose when you first launch the game Origin will also get installed and you will be required to create an EA account.

Origin will simply run in the background, just like Uplay if they decide to go that way.

But will we also have to activate the game on origin ?

Or do we just buy it directly from steam and from there the game will just require both steam and origin being used ?

Really not sure if i should buy the game on steam or just get it from retailers. Retailers will probably be origin only. But would still love to have this game in my steam library.

Yes, retail will be Origin only.

For Steam you will also be required to activate it on Origin.

Just purchase it on here and you will also get it on Origin.

But how exactly do we have to activate it on origin ?

I mean after we buy it, doesn't that mean the game will just use 2 launchers ?

It will work just like Ubisoft games. Games will be installed in your steam folder of choice. When you launch through Steam the first time, you will be asked to login to Origin. At that point the game will be added to your Origin account and load from there.

Steam will still track your playtime and achievements ( if they implement it for Steam ) like any other Steam game.

Sorry but i don't have any ubisoft games on steam. I buy those from retailers because i don't really like having to use 2 launchers.

So basically after we buy the game, when we launch it the 1st time then it will be activated on origin also ?

I mean when we buy it from steam, doesn't that mean that it's activated then and remains in your library ?

Sorry but i'm a bit confused about this.

If you buy on Steam, then you will need Steam+Origin running in order to play. If you buy from Origin, or any other store, then all you need is Origin running.

My confusion was with how will the game be activated on origin.

I mean after we buy it on steam, do we get a key or how does it work ?

Normally when i buy a game DIRECTLY from steam i don't have to enter a key for it. There may be a key added to my account when i buy a game but i don't have to type and enter the key. Normally you type the key for retail games.

But i have no idea how this whole thing works for Jedi Fallen Order.

Why do you think you need to do any activation to Origin if you start the game from steam

I don't know, i'm only asking because i have no idea. Ubisoft's titles for example i always buy from retailers because i don't like having to use 2 launchers so i have no idea how this works.

I bought Jedi fallen order on origin through gamestop. Is there a way to link origin to steam, so that I can load up the game through steam even if i have to keep origin open?

Still no answer to this question it seems. Neither Steam nor Origin shows you a way to link your accounts or how to launch the game any other way.

1. you can't register any email because EA/Origin said your email already registered.
2. you LOGIN with your so called already registered on ORIGIN UI for 3 time until the Origin UI come up with 3 time failed password and it shows a box to retrieve / reset password. Now this put your email already registered. <this will get you a newly created account in your mail to reset a password>
3. follow the step on your mail and your done.

if this step works do let me know. Remember don't reset your password using password reset Origin utility, but try to create your account using a normal login screen to failed your password 3 time for the login screens to automatically give you an reset email option.

Wait there is a way to link your accounts? Do you have to buy it on steam to do this?

This thread is full of nonseless. You cannot link origin to steam. I dont even see why they want to link it.

Well because...

1: Nobody wants to rebuy the same game on 2 different platforms.
2: While having a Steam Link, it's hard to get the controls to work properly and NOT lag while playing an Origin game.
3: Keeping everything all in one place is just nice to have and less of a hassle (for many other reasons you and I are probably unaware of)
4: Sometimes even when the accounts are "linked", the information on both accounts gets jumbled up and leaves the consumer confused on cross-platform player stats. This really affects the multiplayer side of things for other games.
