Can we use guns or other weaponry besides the lightsabeR?

I know this is 3 years old or so.
But to clear this misconception, Jedi's do use other weapons than a lightsaber.

Nothing prevents them from using blasters or such.
Infact they train with quarterstaffs and the like.

Jedi's used to employ sharpshooters that used their lightsabers to power their rifles.

This weapon is absolute madness. What kind of idiot would use a lightsaber as a five shot non-rechargeable magazine for a rifle?

NOBODY would use a gun that destroys your lightsaber in a few more than 5 shots.

Just use a disruptor rifle.

What bothers me more is...

A lightsaber is simply a weak forcefield containing a stable plasma torus.

It's powered by a kyber crystal... So logically you should simply shove a kyber crystal in the rifle and use it as ammo. Wookiepedia says there are in fact Kyber blasters in the expanded universe.

Why would you destroy a perfectly good lightsaber instead of simply using the crystal?
