If its souls-like then dont nerf the light saber
I was kinda suprised to see the souls-like tag, yet in the gameplay there are moves like a light saber slash passing clean through a torso and another clean through a neck, yet instead of dismemberment the enemy just flinches. Would have been a lot cooler if encounters were more deadly and quick considering the light saber. They could throw in shielded droids to make the light saber less effective but against regular troopers they should just be trash mobs. The offset would be the player dying just as quickly promoting a precise and tactical way of playing.

Respawn have said that they didn't increase the amount of health that the enemies get. What they adjusted is the parrying window gets smaller, enemies do more damage to you, and the enemies are more aggressive. When you rest at a meditation point, enemies respawn and your health regen item gets restored, like a souls game.

If you think about it characters losing limbs in the films. They are big, impactful character transformations that are almost always connected to the dark side and its corrupting influence.

Just think about when Luke is about to kill the Emperor and Darth Vader, he stares at his robot hand and stops, as though the prosthetic represents something that he has lost (his humanity), rather than gained. When he almost kills Kylo Ren, he does the same thing. Rebel leader Saw Gerrera lost a leg and breathes through cybernetic lungs, symbols of the sacrifices he’s made fighting against the Empire. Darth Vader is, as Keonbi said, “more machine now than man, twisted and evil.”

Or how's about the time Rey and Ren put burning holes through the Praetorian Guard, but never cut off their limbs despite scoring direct hits on arms and legs with lightsabers.

And all this leads to the question of, is Respawn planning on a character losing limbs at some point in this game, or a sequel?

So your point is the light saber is nerfed until it is used to highlight a plot twist.. which historically is true for the movies with anakin beheading dooku.

Yeah that is true for the movie verse.. it just doesn't make sense practically but it's true.

It would be exceptional if they made a light and dark path option for the player and if you go down the dark path then dismemberment is on the table big time.

i think souls-like combat doesn't fit star wars lore. because light saber is supposed to be very powerful. in this game it acts more like a baseball bat

Yeah exactly Jedi and Seth are supposed to be OP'ed yet we see the jedi in the trailers having a hard time of it with a recon / scout trooper who should more or less kill himself by shooting at the Jedi and getting the laser deflected back or just straight up one shotted by the light saber... they arent equipped with anything that could deflect a light saber so it's just gimped for the sake of keeping the player in the usual gaming experience.. which is basically the least imaginative way to go about it.

pretty much every star wars game has treated the lightsaber as a baseball bat with the exception of the jediknight series with the saber realism cheat and/or mods. Can't think of a single star wars game that had 1 shotting/dismembering sabers natively.

would be pretty awesome but a massive undertaking to balance into a game that would be any fun.

I do think all finishers should dismember though, thats just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ corporate rating decision for larger audience/profit.
