The latter two is where they come in.
Indeed. People don't really understand the difference between owned developers and developers just doing business with publishers.
Yes but Respawn Entertainment are the development team, do you think the executive class at EA developed the Titanfall 2 campaign as well?
Respawn Entertainment developed Call of Duty 1, 2, 3, Modern Warfare 2 and Titanfall 2 campaign.
They have been excellent with a track record for single player campaigns.
You don't seem to understand. They are still EA employees. They are "part" of EA. Its not like they are independent.. we might as well just call them EA Beverly Hills division... The same goes for Bioware, they are not independent, they can't even make proper games anymore because most of the original devs are gone and they have to do what EA tells them...
This is the same with many products in the world. When you scream you wont buy a Epic store product, you actually don't want to buy a naspers product (naspers owns the majority of Tencent)
In all reality these huge multi corp. have monopoly on their things..
So how does this work
Parent company
Daugher company - Daungter company - - - - - - - Each of them have sister companies and each of them have sister companies and each of them these daughter and sisters have more daughter companies...
Often big rivals are owned by the same group.
But this is abit to off topic. The point here is that they are all EA employees. I had no clue Respawn made any of these games, then again none of those games interest me one bit, so that makes sense
But still, many don't understand that Respawn actually is one of the "EA owned software house" that had a big freedom in creative and development management.
Yes, we cannot know how much this is real, but actually, all respawn project comes out decently.
That's why many say "it's respawn, not EA", because Respawn pointed in the initial interviews about the game, that EA gived them lot of freedom.
And i think is real, because actually EA has loosed many money in the past years, and they don't want to loose a license where they invested so much. They saw a potential game in the previous Respawn Project, and asked them to convert that game in a Star Wars one, then they called the Kotor writer for the story, and many major developers of successful games, Respawn and the God of War 3 Director. Then they decided to leave all in the Respawn hands.
Basically, Respawn need to release a great game not only because of EA licens lost threat, but because it's 50/50 for them.
If they win, they will gain a big reputation with EA, and this will allow them to continue with a sequel, and have the possibility to continue developing their games with more freedom compared to other SH (like bioware for example).
And 2nd, they would gain much more respect of the consumers, and expecially from Disney. And in case Respawn developers have problems, or leave EA, this is always something to have in the curriculum vitae for a developer.
If they loose, well, you can understand how it could go.
I have never played a game from them, so I can't say if they have quality or have creative freedom, but I doubt the freedom one. Again as far as I can see on the forum, they are known for MP shooters for the teen demographic
Respawn did Titanfall 1 and 2, and Apex Legends, and they are all valid products talking about reviews (i don't like Apex legends, battleroyale are ♥♥♥♥ for me but i've played titan fall 1 and it was very good and fun).
Both games have a good graphic, but most important, they run well and they are good in terms of quality.
But my faith in not only in Respawn, actually the fact that the God of war 3 director and the Knight of the Old Republic are in, that is where i have faith.
For the freedom, as i said, we cannot be sure, but actually, their games quality gived us the idea that Respawn has been truly more free to work in their project compared to Bioware and the rest of the SH.
I never heard or played Titanfall. Apex I have seen abit, since one of my kids play it sometimes. I don't particular like that Apex game because its riddled with micro's for kids/teens to buy (I had great talks with my kids, so they don't want or buy stuff like that, not even packs in Fifa)
We can hope they pull off a decent/good 3rd person action adventure here, because it might set in stone other genres/games within the SW universe, but I simply have no interest in this game, so I wont be getting it.
Don't worry this is Bioware we're talking about here, they won't screw us.
Don't worry this is Visceral Games we're talking about here, they won't screw us.
Don't worry, this is Maxis we're talking about here, they won't screw us.
I'm gonna frame the: Don't worry, this is Respawn Entertainment we're talking about here, they won't screw us. : and then I'll tatoo it to my ♥♥♥ so whenever anyone mentions the next big EA screw up, I'll moon them.
