But with a part of the community, not a small part, but a good part of the community is just alts. Definitely not worth it.
MO1 out lasted all the renditions of DarkFall combined, MO2 will keep going regardless of its haters for good or ill
Lasted, is a stretch. DFO, in all of its forms didnt have rich daddy money to prop up the company and government subsidies.
with that said, its about 600-1000 grueling hours of dueling and grinding to be truly pvp ready, and be able to actually fight back with any chance of winning
the game by design is made to crush new players into dust so they quit playing before they even get started
Yeah. It's hard to get in late on pvp mmos. If you're not there on day 0, you're at a big disadvantage. At day 0 you got more xp per kill, gold, etc. There was more fighting for power. Etc. After a few years in a pvp mmo the game boring because you get a few guilds/people with 1000x more resources than you. That's why I think wipes are important in pvp mmos. Without them it just spirals out of control, and becomes nearly impossible for anyone new to get in
I agree with what you say but only if you're looking for being competitive, if you're going to take it more casually you gonna do just fine.
True. imo who wants to be another zergling in someones elses guild though.
the open world is feeling very dead now. the none main 2 towns you can go there and be alone.
pvp will always be fun when you find it but its getting hard to find.
the end game stuff is mostly broken (tc/siege and relic )but that wouldn't effect you for a while.
now is a good time if you don't mind it being quiet most the time, if you are a pve and crafter its probably a good time.
Having a cost attached to aquire the game limits that, having a subscription attached limits it even further. Unless you're World of Warcraft (Which have also seen a decline in potential players due to this) you have a very small chance of succeeding. What you need then is reputation, because that is what keeps World of Warcraft still able to exist with this payment model.
Mortal Online suffers from bad reputation in comparison. While also using the same payment model. Thus it is not really that hard to see what the future will bring.
The moment MO2 failed to achieve Overwhelmingly Positive reviews, were the moment they should've gone F2P with some sort of in-game shop. Because keeping the extreme payment model that turns away players, with mixed reviews, is a recipe for disaster.
It's actually even worse than that, if you factor in that no one at their company seems to have realized this, it doesn't look good at all. Just means they have no idea wtf they're even doing.
Let's look at it from a business perspective. As it currently stands, Star Vault looks like a failing company. They look like a bad investment. Players are the same, they don't want to invest time into something that looks like a bad investment.
https://www.avanza.se/aktier/om-aktien.html/95968/star-vault-b <- Does this look like a company worth investing money or time in? They're hemorrhaging money.
They might be able to turn it around if they go F2P and fix all the complaints players have had since they launched the game. Once they go F2P however, they can never go back. But if they don't, they'll never last.
while that report looks bad and not to argue that the game is failing, because it is.. but for real 15$ a month isn't crap unless you don't work at all.. and is def not the reason the game is failing. not even remotely.. as much as you might hate the paywall.. plenty of us were more then willing to pay double that.. for two accounts..
the games flaws, short comings, and botched major updates, and dogwater build balance with the troll builds that drive people out of the game..
and look at EvE online, a game thats 20$ a month and like 20 years old.. and you need more then one active account to enjoy it.. the sub itself is not the issue... its what you GET for that sub thats the issue
most of us that play these hardcore games are from the previous generation of gamers, we grew up on ultima, everquest, wow, DAOC, ect all subscription games.. and we will gladly pay a sub to keep a cash shop and free to play cheaters and genz out
and i just really hope SV gets its head out of its ass with these broken and not very well thought out updates, its not too late for MO2 to do a 360 and bring players back
Seeing as my RL income is no concern of yours and I have no problems paying for anything I own. 3$ a month less is what I feel the game is worth. It doesnt offer that deep of an experience, it isnt worth it for me at this time for 15$ a month, and to be frank it isnt worth it if I went through an Argentinian IP and paid 79c a month like many of the people do.
This game is precisely a deep experience man. What you talking about. This game is precisely about your journey and the relation with other players, not like all the other ♥♥♥♥ MMOs where you are literally alone surrounded by unknown characters.
MMO genre nowadays is literally a singleplayer experience for dead brains.
MO2 is carried by its own design idea, sure the implementation is cheap and bad, but thats because there is 0 money and 0 dev quality on it.
Other MMOs have it the other way around. ♥♥♥♥ game design at its core with millions poured into it.
