Do houses keep your items safe?
Are homes able to be raided? Also, do you need to log off in a safe spot like a town to avoid being killed while logged out?

You log out faster in town or a house. But once you are logged out you are out of game.

There is an exception with loss connections and even crashes. These leave you logged in longer to avoid people from abusing it. Basically you have to log back in and log out to make it safer.

Once you have logged out of the game your character is no longer in the game..

It's not like survival games where your body stayed in game sleeping.
You have a secure Chest. The other placeable chests will be able to loot. You can build a second room, that you can lock. Those Chests could be looted, but the developers announced that we will be able to craft deadly trapped chests, to mix them between your reguar chests. Furniture and placeablle stuff will be added next patch i guess. If a house get sieged you have 24 or 48 h to recover your items from the secured chest, before they can be looted.

Will there be something like a bank, which can't be sieged?

For example in a neutral city?

All cities have local banks that you can store stuff in that is 100% safe

Thx, good to know, I read about it in BromBeerBaBaks guide.

Somehow I'm intrigued.

Really liked darkfall, as soon as I knew what I was doing.

The game is like EVE online in case of how your items work. Items are were they are they can't be Teleported from A to B, so if you want to buy something in Tindrem broker (player only market) but your in Baki you need to travel all the way to tindrem to buy the item an either bring the gold with you or earn new gold in tindrem.

There are many different NPC towns in this game most are guarded by NPC guards/police not all but most. These guards will delete (an yes I mean delete there OP an should be because if they weren't towns wouldn't be safe places) anything with a gray or red name, this could be a monster like a zombie or bandit, or this could be a player who has attacked, robbed, or murder another player or a player's tamed pet. NPC towns cannot be owned by players, the devs have mentioned adding town build into the game allowing for player owned towns but this has yet to happen in beta (it was in MO 1 though so there a good chance MO 2 will have it one day).

As for player made structures these are builds players place into the world than build by hand. These structures belong to the one who placed it, the devs stated it one player house per account. These builds are locked an can be unlocked via a key that the owner can freely generate by interacting with the sign by the front door. Players can murder you an take your key to get access to your home, you as the owner can freely change the lock on the door preventing old generated keys from working on your home. Player houses are not immune to dmg, but they also aren't something a guy with a touch can just come over an burn to the ground in a few seconds. If someone going to destroy your house chances are it going to be a collection of players spending a massive amount of resources to do it.

This sounds like 1997 Ultima Online, minus the siege warfare. The thing with UO is that they had to split the worlds (Consensual and non Consesual PVP) in order to survive as the game was dying due to the non consensual PVP. It wasnt just other MMOs it was that other MMOs were not murderfests like UO was at the time. I know this because I was there and played on the Baja server.

Whats going to happen is the griefers on the server (you know the ones that wont pick a fight with peeps their level only ones that are well below their level) will start PKing the starter areas. This will in turn frustrate 95% of the new players as they cant even get started. This wont happen at first but over time (first few months) it will become an issue. What happens next is the guilds will have less and less new players coming into the game to cover the number of vets that are slowly becoming less active, the reason they are less active is mainly due to the low player base as 95% of the new folks up and quit after the first month. Its a cycle that happens to even the best MMOs that have non consensual PVP and thats the reason there are so very few still alive with strong numbers.

Now lets queue the troll responses that come in after my comment. I would also make sure to watch their names as I am willing to bet all the gold in the world that 99% of these comments come from the same players that sit in those newbie areas all day long :)

This will be a problem yes, but the devs do have systems in place to punish KOS mindset in this game. First being the criminal system which marks you as a gray player for taking hostile actions against another player or their belongings. Second being the outlaw system in which after obtaining a player kill count of 5 your now marked by a red player for several hours an need to be logged in for that timer to tick down.

But most of it is people just need to use their brain when playing this game. I've seen people wearing steel plate armor when they're mining rocks, or using steel weapons to hunt pigs. It completely unneeded for what they're doing an they're basically advertising to others to gank them. I'm usually a neutral player but if I see some mining rocks in full plate armor or hunting low tier mobs with steel weapons there a good chance I'm calling some guildmates over to gank them for it. So people use your brain don't wear 50g worth of gear if your plan is to hunt pigs or mine rocks.

What happens after your timer for going red runs out? Do you go back to grey?

You go back to blue, gray state only last 2 mins. But being red last (Your murder count # * by 8 hours of being logged into the game), so sense the minimal murders you need to go red is 5 this means once you hit 5 player murders your now red for the next 40 hours that you spend in game so almost 2 full days of being online.
