Just finished the game, and I am NOT dissapointed :)
I have lot to say. Hope I can communicate in a constructive way.
(english is not my main language - sry)

I was about to rant against the game because of several current weaknesses in it.
Blancing, teaching... etc. But because it realy gives me joy, I just continue playing and on the point I thought I lost my whole effort, it surprised me again. (The player needs to know that a full Doomsday clock ist NOT the instant loss :D )

So after looking to my own facts, I like that game very much. And Iam happy about my spent money. And thank the developers for their effort. Please continue!

I spent 50€ and had several exiting hours with it. So I got a lot for my money. And it will be more.
Visiting a Cinema 2 times or a nice Club party cost me the same. And a lot of less time of fun.
So I really disencourage all that peopel and media who rant against an entertainment produkt of good quality. Just because its not in perfect quality. It seems to become common in the gaming community to be angry about any game experience which is not fit the expectations. There are lot of good reasons to be angry about the game industry. But its not about product quality - price ratio. Its more about a toxic greedyness on creator side, but also on consumer side. We all want more for less.

If we dont take care, we gonna destroy the little rest of innovation in the game industry.
It seem to be a battle of a congolmerate of Game-Publisher, Game-Investor, Game-Media AND Game-Community (so "us" the gamers themselve) VS. the Game-Developers alone.

And this a sad situation which could end very bad.
I was once in the industry and I the good pepole leaving first if it becomes toxic for their health. So if we dont stop flaming and ranting against every "Not perfect" game than the investors and publishers wont give any innovation any chance anymore.
We will our 100s itteration of Assanins Creed, Call of Duty and any Football Manager... is it that what we want?!?

So.. back to the Game Lamplighter League:
It is a successful system (X-Com like) with a successful setting (Indiana Jones like).
Nothing new, but it feels fresh cause of this combination! I like the style, the story and the characters.
Now I even bought myself the Nocturne AddOn. I like it, but hard to play.

There are some weak spots, which I hope to be corrected in future:
Teach the player: Doomsday clock is not the sure end. Auto-Reload is not Reload :) and so on.
Blancing the characters. Eddie is OP, Jianyi feels to weak e.g. Supplies not so worthy cause Items always needs a valueable AP! Make Aether and skillpoints tradeable for Kings aether or the weapon ore. Doomsday clock feels very out of control. In best case you can avoid 5 steps of one and scion and than receive 5 steps from another per week - in best case! Teach me how to do better.
Well and some minor bugs, I dont care right now.

It feels a litte like some superhero-manager said: "Release it!" without listening to QA or the Devs again. One or two month more polishing wouldnt hurt.

Oh and p.s.:
22m loss cause of the project?? I doubt it. If its really this bad, than better check how that could happen? Or where the 22m went to. I would be surrprised if its all gone lost at developrs hand. Or if someone the forgot to count in the income until now (1 week only) and probalby forget that many players dont need to buy it cause the game pass. Or just waiting to be polished because all releases are used to be broken on release, so they just dont even start and wait until it realy done. Consumers hate to be missused as beta-testers. ... all the little things noone wants to talk about.
So please be careull with such buzzwor-bashing-headlines.

Used to be constrctive critism. Please see it like one. I just want to experience more great games in future.

Changing the end of the doom track from 'Faction Victory' to something like 'Attempting to take the Tower' would really do wonders for new players. Eddie really is very strong once he gets going with unlimited ammo and free APs coming in but I think Jianyi can be crazier. Jianyi with assassins blade weapon mod (+10crit 60% crit damage) with the ally upgrade for a chance on melee to give a free AP, as well as the relic that does the same. With three flow and inspire from an ally he has insane crit and is hitting over 100 and is getting free hit after free hit. Also being able to teleport made him great for running in and grabbing the item and getting out quick with a teleport and his signature move can travel a ton of distance.

I feel like every character feels weak (well maybe not Eddie once you get that 100% hit/crit skill) until you really find out how to break them with the right relics/cards/mods. Near the end I also had way too many Supplies, maybe I should have bought more free signature items and used them but there were plenty of items in missions so I usually only use the supplies for weapon mods and armor. Maybe there should be a few more extra expensive options or something. Or have a random item that isn't usually sold for sale change each week.

Glad you enjoyed the game. Your post was easily understood, thanks for taking the time to write it out.

Question, since you finished.

There are some relationships developing between my agents. Will those ever come to fruition/finale, or is it just go on and on forever? Ingrid and Sawyer have a thing, Alexandrite and Celeste have a plot together.

Just dont want to end the game too early if something comes of these. Im enjoying the interplay between the agents.

Thanks for the help!

I haven't finished the game so I can't answer you, but I feel like it's highly unlikely those things would actually play out. Like, this game just isn't that level of quality of a game for that to actually happen. I think it's just flavor text. I feel like the devs rely too much on that kind of flavor text and lore texts. Overly relying on lazy telling instead of showing.

This isn't like Fire Emblem where you can actually get missions where unique things happen during it that involve the character's personal stories and interpersonal relationships.

The flavor and bits of back story can be interesting when combined with the ending. But not in a way that requires them, more like you can gain extra context into who they are and what they are saying. Without spoiling anything I would say that the dialogues help paint the character as having a past, a present, and if the world doesn't end maybe even a plan for the future. There have been times where a voice line mid map would go without context if I had not heard one of the characters interactions together. I would say don't stress over it and just let it flow naturally.

Hey,

No there are no relationships between the agents. They just have some interessting voicelines togther. So its interessting to play with several agent setups through the game.
Of course to hear all stories, you need to play with them for a while. I found it pretty interessting. Some of them are also very emotional.

For me it was more easy to start a new game and play with others since its almost impossible to keep the game running with the doomsclocks.

;)
