doomsday clock
If doomsday clock reaches max do you have a mission to play so that you prevent the enemy from wining and you loosing? Or are you out of luck?
Wondering if I should play on the hardest difficulty and was wondering if should I play it or mistakes on the strategic layer with the 3 doomsday clocks will doom my play through.
Or any advice you have to mitigate the doomsday clocks.

Yes, when the clock hits midnight, you then have to do a last-ditch mission to stop that House from winning -- pretty big map, lots of enemies, etc. -- if you're victorious, it resets that house back to their previous breakpoint in their clock.

You can keep doing this over-and-over, every time a clock hits midnight.

My advice is to avoid going on "resource" missions. Those are missions where the primary benefit is access to a large or valuable haul of resources. I have found that later in the game the availability of certain resources - specifically Supplies and Aether - is much greater than is needed. Even King's Aether and Seric Steel are losing their value, in that I don't need any more Seric Steel (although I could use it, I don't need it) and the ally abilities I could unlock with more King's Aether are not critical to my success. As a result, the missions I did earlier in the game to get more resources effectively just padded progress onto the doomsday clocks unnecessarily.

Instead, I suggest focusing on searching for keystones and other components that you need to win the game. Resources will come naturally as a side-product of completing missions that move you closer to victory, and such focus should serve to deny your opponents any unnecessary progress.

That said, one other thing that is important to consider is that keeping your opponents from filling up their clocks shouldn't be the focus of your strategy. The game presents the clocks as doom (they are called "doomsday clocks" after all), but really they are just a mechanism to ensure that the enemy forces advance in strength to match your own increasing strength. Maybe it is possible to prevent any of them from filling their clocks before you win, but it isn't necessary and you shouldn't delay working toward victory to try to turn back any clocks (except in the case of a full clock, but then you don't have a choice).

Yes, there's a last stand mission that allows you to push the clock back. And you can play it over an over. But it gets harder and you eventually will end up alternating between doing one story mission and that one...
Happy playing!
