Bug: Keyboard not working in-game

I literally can't get past the start screen because the game doesn't recognize any keys on my keyboard

I've tried reinstalling, updating drivers, testing other keyboards, disabling overlays and NOTHING WORKED

I'm almost giving up and asking for a refund

This is a long shot, but if you have a controller also attached to your computer, turn off your computer, remove the controller, then boot up your computer and try again. I don't know if it affects this game, but I have heard of other games where having a controller attached caused problems with keyboard input.

I have an Xbox One controller connected via bluetooth

I turned it off along with the bluetooth antenna and restarted the computer but that didn't work.

Hey I'm here to say I also am having this problem! I can skip the intro logos with the space bar, I can alt+f4 from the title screen, but neither my keyboard nor my mouse works when trying to get past the "Press any button to continue" part.

If you can <Alt><F4> then your keyboard is working, but the game isn't accepting the input. That's exactly the sort of situation having a controller could theoretically cause. Do you have a controller attached to your computer?

I'll have to try to remember which game it was and then search for posts on the topic; there may be more to fixing it than just disconnecting and rebooting. If I can find something I'll post it here.

I don't have a controller connected to my computer at all! This happens even if I only have my mouse and keyboard plugged in.

I'd also like to add that clicking "press any key to continue" with my mouse puts out a noise as though I've selected something, but nothing happens. The game is accepting my input, but nothing is happening!

Okay, it's probably a completely different problem then. Unfortunately, I can't imagine what it could be. Assuming this is the only game it happens in, I would report it as a bug on Paradox's forum for The Lamplighters League; maybe someone there can help.

I had this exact same issue. I had to ALT-F4 out, then when I relaunched, I saw that it said Hit (symbol for space) to skip. So I did that and it worked fine. It might work for you too.

Like I mentioned above, I can hit the space bar to skip through the intro logos just fine, but when the game gets to "Press any button to continue" my inputs aren't being read. Controller is unplugged, the mouse cursor works and clicking with the mouse results in a sound effect, but the screen won't move past "Press any button to continue."

If you have a razer huntsman v2 Analog keyboard, this might be the reason the game recognizes your keyboard as a game controller. I have this problem too but I somehow managed to get pass the main screen by pressing some buttons and clicking with the mouse.

Hey I just wanted to add to this! I actually just got a brand new PC today, and thought I'd try booting the game up to see if I could get past the "press any button to continue" screen. No luck on the new rig either, so maybe it has to do with the save file? That's the only thing I can think of that could be shared from one device to the other- or at least anything synced up to the steam cloud.

Hey! Just wanted to chime in again to say this seems to have been fixed! I can now access the main menu and go to new game. The game itself through up a "settings file was corrupted" error message, and put me through the "press any key to continue" section! Thanks for your hard work!
